Saturday Night Open Thread

Remember February 1964? That’s when The Beatles were introduced to America on The Ed Sullivan Show. I seem to remember watching it.

The Illustrated Frank J: Although There’s About Twice As Many Suicides As Murders With Guns, But Gun Grabbers Rarely Make That Distinction When Blathering on About “Gun Violence”

[source]

Well, let’s see… the biased, untrustworthy, yellow-journalist axe-grinders at Slate claim 4,000,000 “assault-style” rifles. Let’s make them all AR-15s

Firearm deaths: 33,000 – AR-15s are 1% of guns, so extrapolate to 330 deaths, and you get

.00825%

Cars: 270 million

Car deaths: 40,000

Odds any given car will kill you:

.0148%

Therefore, any given AR-15 is nearly twice as safe as any given car.

Link of the Day: Luke Skywalker – Closet Millenial

Luke Skywalker Was A Freeloader

At the link, below the article, DarthBile (first commenter) gives a good series of counterpoints.

Added Bonus: Jackie Chan Singing the End Credits Song

[DRUNKEN FIST VS PRAYING MANTIS KUNG FU – DANCE OF THE DRUNKEN GODS] (Viewer #132,745)

If you like badly dubbed Kung Fu movies, you will like this. And if you don’t, you will at least admire the degree of athletic effort involved in the choreography.

And if you don’t like either of those, maybe you’ll at least like the outtake reel at the end of the video

P.S. This video makes a lot of references to Jackie Chan’s “Drunken Master“, which I recommend on it’s own, as it’s Jackie’s best pre-“Rumble in the Bronx” work (with the possible exception of “Fearless Hyena“)
