Monday Night Open Thread

Got a new phone last month. Yeah, I got the iPhone X. And it’s pronounced “ten” because that’s a Roman numeral.

I may be wrong, but someone getting an iPhone X would seem to bring up two questions:

1) Why would you spend $1000 on a phone?

2) How does that work not having a button on the front?

To which I say:

1) I didn’t. Read my post from a few weeks ago to see how I managed to effectively pay less (and why you probably can’t).

2) It didn’t take long to get used to and it works just fine, as I posted recently.

If you don’t want to read my posts over at my little blog, that’s fine. Bottom line is, I like the iPhone X.

But what about you? Got something you want to share? It’s Monday Night Open Thread after all.

Who wants to start?

Yes, Please Protect Me From Fraud, Mr. Government Man

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau paid a fortune to advertise on a website, but it turned out most of the site’s “visitors” were actually just “cheap junk traffic with a share of bots.”

Our vigilant hero the CFPB. Turns out that Clark Kent without his glasses wasn’t Superman, he was Mr. Magoo.

Was Robert Plant a Monty Python fan? Because that last bit might be “two sheds”, as in Arthur “Two Sheds” Jackson.

Campaign Fundraising Emails

Bonus Link:

I got a flattering email from Alex at Ammo.com, who said nice things about our pro-gun, pro-2A, pro-freedom attitude here at IMAO. In return, I’ll direct you to his site, because he’s got a nice selection of pro-freedom writings and informational articles over there (I found the one about aluminum casings informative, because I had no idea why they existed).

While you’re over there, browse the catalog and let me know how his prices compare to other places you’ve bought ammo.

I can’t vouch for his service, products, or shipping, because I’ve never ordered from Ammo.com (I don’t live next to a range anymore, so I rarely get my gun dirty these days). If you HAVE ordered from Ammo.com before, please leave your opinion of the experience in the comments.

[Think you have a link that’s IMAO-worthy? Send it to harvolson@gmail.com. If I use your link, you will receive High Praise! (assuming you remember to put your name in the email)]

Icebreaker: If You Could Pick Up a New Skill in an Instant What Would It Be?

I found a list called “The 25 most popular icebreaker questions based on four years of data“. So I’m gonna post a few, and see what happens.

Your mission: answer the question in the comments with a good story.

If you don’t have a good story, you are encouraged to make one up.

If you could pick up a new skill in an instant what would it be?

I would learn piano for the specific purpose of playing “Believe Me, if All Those Endearing Young Charms” badly and tricking my enemies into blowing themselves up.

I’ve Felt This Way About Every Tax Cut Ever Passed

Democrats’ new plan for victory in 2018: “repeal and replace” the Trump tax cuts.

I absolutely support this. They do mean with bigger cuts, right?
