I’d just like to make a suggestion to Harry Reid as he’s working out the details for registering bloggers.
Sure, it’s easy to just tattoo the serial number of each blogger on the inside of their wrist for tracking purposes, perhaps slip an RFID chip under there so they can be scanned quickly, but you’re going to need a simple and easily recognizable system of marking different kinds of bloggers.
I mean, if you want to round up right-wing military bloggers, you don’t want to waste your time on piddly left-wing journalists posing as bloggers or catbloggers or pornbloggers or spambloggers.
I’d suggest a simple set of badges and markings. For instance, everbody knows that an inverted pink triangle is a gay symbol, so why not use it for gaybloggers?
Then you can add different colors, like red triangles for right-wing bloggers and orange triangles for “I don’t believe in global warming” bloggers and red-white-and-blue triangles for bloggers that support our military and green triangles for anti-Islamist bloggers and gold for Christian bloggers and yellow for Jewish bloggers and such.
Black triangles for black bloggers? What’s the point? Nah… black triangles for fans of Rush Limbaugh. Some nice fat black triangles there.
If bloggers cover more than one subject, maybe you could overlap triangles to make six-pointed stars? Those would look cool, right, Harry?
Pin ’em right on the sleeve of the blogger for all to see.
Oh oh – you can’t forget the pajamas. After all, didn’t someone characterize bloggers as just malcontents in their mothers’ basements wearing pajames and typing away furiously about nothing or something? Someone at CNN or the New York Times or Newsweek I think… aren’t they all just the same these days, really?
You’re going to need some nice, grey-and-white striped pajamas for those bloggers to wear the pretty triangles on. And then, of course, lots of cheap labor to make those pajamas… don’t want to import them from China, so let’s bring in a few hundred thousand more people from south of the border to work on these things in textile factories.
While here, they can get their kids into state colleges at the state-resident rate and eventually work their way up to better Information Age jobs. Because you don’t want them working at zero-skill jobs forever, and those jobs can eventually be handed off to… oh, perhaps those bloggers you’ve tattooed, given triangles to, and of course rounded up for questioning and seminars on proper blogging technique.
Got to keep their hands busy with something other than all that typing… and they wear out those pajamas fast, right?
It sounds awfully familiar. I’m having a hard time placing it… maybe I saw it at a recent Palestinian protest at a Houston campus where the Arab and Muslim and Progressive students were yelling and waving these things around and screaming they were having some kind of Holocaust thrust upon them… not sure, I’ll have to ask around.
Of course, there’s only so many colors out there, so we’ll just skip over the anti-War, left-wing, pro-Multiculturalism aspects of blogging… we’ll deal with those some other day, we’ll just test this out on the right side of the blogopshere and get around to those other free-thinkers eventually.

I’m looking forward to the fight between the gaybloggers and the anti-war bloggers for the rights to the color pink. That one’s gonna be bloody, but I have my popcorn ready.
OH NO! This is only the beginning! They’re going to round all us Neo-Cons up! Away, away, to Canada we shall flee!!!
Does it sound just as ridiculous when we say something like that?
Ouch! It would appear sir your talons are out.
Don’t laugh – with all the gun pictures, you guys are gonna be on the top of the list.
SarahK, you might wanna dye that hair…
Am I missing something? Clicking on the link takes me to instapundit, but there’s only one posting on it, and it’s about the Iranian fruitcake president.
Lair, I think your link is not what you think. You are now a puppy blender post away from where you want us to go.
First they try to control speech using “Political Correctness”, now they should mark all dissidents.
Has the Left no mercy or memory of the last time they tried these techniques? We will not go quietly to their forced labor camps and gas chambers this time.
Unlike Germany in the 1930s, we are armed, and will take all of their Nazi Leftist ideals with us. They cannot take us all, and we will not go quietly–
Regardless of the link, I have some suggestions for Sentator Skim through:
Run away from home, just make sure you leave the country.
Go out and play in the traffic.
Make like a banana and go live in the jungle.
Fly south for the winter and never, ever come back.
Get a ride on a future shuttle and have them let you off at the farthest planetoid. (we’re not picky, Pluto or someplace farther would be fine)
Do your best to achieve the number one position on
…..the Darwin awards. You can do it, I know you can.
Seriously I have no wish for the man to become room temperature, I just wish he would go away somewhere and never come back. That said the people who sent him to Congress would probably elect someone as equally moronic or maybe, if they could find it, someone worse. Sigh:(
