Hypnobama

IMAO reader Laurie sent me a link to a pdf file wherein the author claims that Barack Obama used “hidden hypnosis techniques” in his campaign speeches to get people to vote for him.

“A light will shine down from somewhere. It will light upon you. You will experience an epiphany. And you will say to yourself, ‘I have to vote for Barack’.”

After wading though all 67 pages, I’ve decided that – despite a great deal of panicky, mouth-breathing hyperbole – the author makes a legitimate point.

Bare bones: the author asserts that Barack’s slow speech pattern, repeated use of key phrases, and deliberate use of specific gestures at key points in his speeches amounts to a form of subconscious hypnosis.

Possibly.

Or maybe he’s simply taking typical used-car-salesman/con-man techniques and using them exceptionally well. That makes him sleazy, not Svengali.

The thing is, I never watched his speeches, so I can’t really confirm if he’s been making the “thumb and forefinger holding a pen, as if to mark a ballot” gesture as he commands his audience to vote for change.

I guess the thing to watch for is to see if that thumb and forefinger gesture goes away, since he doesn’t need votes anymore.

It may be replaced by the more aggressive single-finger-point, which is (supposedly) what he uses when he commands his audience to take a specific action.

Still, despite my skepticism, I do find it… odd… that his supporters are constantly reduced to mindless chants, devoid of substance. From the Moron.Org “Wall of Hope“:

“The same way we answered the call for change to get President Obama elected, should be the same way we answer his inevitable call to help him ensure that real change is manifested.”

“There is hope!”

“Barack was meant to be”

“work for what Obama stands for”

“Support his agenda for peace and equality”

“the change that we need is on its way”

“effect change as he sees fit”

“the power to change”

“ensure that real change is manifested”

“The hope and promise of this election”

“President Obama will transform our image around the world”

“I feel Hopeful”

“unite in a common purpose of Peace and love for all humanity”

“He brings us hope for change”

And that’s just from the first page.

I don’t remember the last time I felt so creeped out.

No, wait. Yes I do.

When I watched this video:

It’s a cult.

And cults never end well.

Regardless of what you think of this paper’s accusations, though, keep one point in mind, above all else:

While the actual effectiveness of Obama’s actions is debatable, the fact that he deliberately chose to use these techniques is not.

Now, let’s look at how else Obama has tried to influence the outcome of this election:

* Beaming tribbles into the engine rooms of his political enemies.

* Voodoo – including a doll factory that makes Mattell weep with envy.

* Let’s just say Kucinich was right about mind-control space lasers.

* Zombie outbreaks that were hushed up by the MSM as “escaped Alzheimer’s patients” (no other way to explain Florida).

* Stationing teen-age girls with latent telekinetic abilities outside polling places and then dumping buckets of pigs’ blood on them.

* Enlisting the aid of the secret ruling class of vampires, as seen in the documentary “Blade”.

* A “compromising photo” collection so vast it fills a separate wing of that warehouse where they’re keeping the Ark of the Covenant.

* Having a hot chick with big knockers shake her ass while singing about how much she loves Obama. I’m totally all right with this one since my speakers have a volume control knob.

* Putting his face on the moon. Don’t believe me? Stare at it for a while and squint a little. It’s there. Oh, it’s there all right.

* Being “only 8 years old” when Ayers bombed the Pentagon. How convenient.

And before you ask, NO, he did NOT use the “Jedi Mind Trick”. Star Wars was a FICTIONAL story.

Sheesh! Get a grip, nerds.

  1. Never look directly into his eyes. (Unless of course, you can shoot lasers out of your own eyes into his eyes. Even then, with that kind of power, you should already be the ruler of these here United States, if not the world, so why bother with him?)

  2. What does NTZ mean?
I think Barry cast spells over adoring crowds much like Hitler did…a population worn out with the present and desperate for a brilliant future with hope and change, willing to suspend disbelief of any fool who promised it…
Anyone else wondering what ever became of OB’s grandmother…a “typical white person” who sacrificed her own independent lifesyle for his sake to raise and educate him…now she’s dead and conveniently forgotten by THE ONE…what a great guy…

  3. Since over half the country is obviously evil, amoral, America-hating, and/or stupid, and with the Democrats having the evil, amoral, and America-hating constituencies locked up, we are left with fighting over the stupid vote. And with fellow stupid-Americans such as Obamuhhhh, Pelosi, and Reid in power, we are soooooooo screwed in our stupid-American outreach.

  4. I think this guy is extremely creepy, I mean how can anyone with no experience when our presidency like that. How did he defeat Hillary Clinton, an obvious better choice? I mean that video is proof of how weak minded americans and people are. His promise of hope told us nothing and the debates all they did was jab at each other and told us nothing. His racist comments mixed with his obvious dislike for America would destroy any other candidate. My gosh what has our country come to.

  5. I tried to watch the video, and made it almost a minute and a half in, before I had to stop. You’re right, it’s stomach-churning disturbing, it’s a cult, and cults don’t end well.

Oh well, Palin gave us some hope about moving to Alaska. I used to wonder about moving up there, but if she’s running the state government, it might just be a great place to live after all.

  6. It may be replaced by the more aggressive single-finger-point, which is (supposedly) what he uses when he commands his audience to take a specific action.

Not to be confused with the middle single-finger-point, which is Obama’s version of bipartisanship (which in theory only, is a good idea).

  7. There’s always been a certain segment of society open to snake-oil salesmen, freak shows, false preachers, and crystal ball readers. Obama came as a four-for-one deal. Apparently half of America loves a bargain.

The rest of the country understands the value, longevity, and necessity of quality, and knows it’s going to pay a hefty price for the next four years for the ultimate Ponzi scheme.

  8. The problem is that you people have forgotten how powerful hope and change can be. In fact, you non-math majors probably don’t realize that hope and change, when practiced together, produce a multiplier effect.

In this case, they will multiply the effect of the downward spriral of the economy, the amount you pay in taxes and the amount of handouts received by lazy, stupid people.

  9. I also experienced that mind numbing sensation whenever Obama talked, but my reaction was to turn down the sound or change the station. Still, I’m worried that a post-hypnotic suggestion may have been implanted before I turned the sound off and after hearing hope and change for the hundredth time, I will go on a rampage against local Republican leaders until I am apprehended. Do you think I’m being paranoid? If not, do you have any suggestions on how should I go about being deprogrammed? 😉

  10. * Knowing that an audience full of seated women would require chair shampooing after the event was enough to mesmerize the men present.

    * Realizing that his “pulpit voice” would do the trick for the audience since they just hadn’t attended church very often.

    * Knowing they needed a priest, he gave the masses what they wanted: hope. The “change” thing was to the reward – like Christmas presents – even though the man actually has no clue how government works or how to change it.

  11. Seriously, my first reactions to seeing Obama on TV were formed in just seconds. Word associations:

    priest
    demagogue
    hood
    empty
    power
    dangerous

But I had an equally quick reaction to Bill Clinton:

    liar
    phony
    pervert
    ambitious
    bull$hit
    money

    For Hillary:

    liar
    neurotic
    acting
    money
    ambitious
    misandry (hates men)

  12. I never used to be a good judge of character, RightWingTink. But it’s one of those aspects of “IQ” that goes up with age rather than down. In that respect, I’m a genius now. I’m off the charts. Yeah… The next Republican president should hire me to personally judge their new hires. But, alas, I’ll be dead by then.

  13. Jimmy: What exactly about Palin stims the “not too bright” comment ? ……..that she does not speak like a preacher ?

I hate preachers. And to be honest anyone who has ever spoke like one impresses me as “not too bright”…..but then you are acustomed to a bunch of preachy preacher political speeches. When Sarah hits you in the face with authenticity you are so slow you don’t even recognize it. But that’s ok….most democrats don’t either. As a political party they are the short bus’ers.

  14. The “not too bright” reaction came during her first speech when she said something to the affect that the first duty of elected officials is to “challenge the status quo…” A seriously bright Conservative would have said “to honor and defend the Constitution and the laws of the United States.” Had she said that with some gutsy moral authority – and then itemized where our laws are being ignored by both the President and Congress – she would have scored “perfect” in my book. Perfectly bright.

The fact that she didn’t meant that she didn’t really understand nor ring the bell of Reagan Conservatism. Which is to say, she had her moment to make the point and she missed it. Not too bright. I see that my reaction in this regard was born out later in several of her interviews by her relative lack of understanding of the Federal Government. I should also point out, that I thought it was about on the same level as Obama’s. And, probably more importantly, I think that four years as VP could have supplied her with the missing knowledge.

On this blog after McCain’s announcement, I made the comment that, “She stands for me.” She still does.

Oh, and I’m not fond of preachy speeches. I do like strong, declarative ones, however.

  15. One of the things I noticed about Obama is that when he speaks, he does it in a rhythmic style, emphasizing certain words. This rhythmic style has a type of ‘hypnotic’ effect, causing people to like the ‘beat’. Think along the lines of like a southern Baptist preacher when they give a sermon and is hammering home the message, it’s similar to that, except his speech uses that from beginning to end. Very few speakers know how to speak in that style, and I think he has mastered the ability.

Try it out the next time he gives a speech. Start counting, and you will find a rhythmic pattern in there.

Could that be the hypnotic ability of Obama?
