* The Obama administration has announced they’re going to stop deporting illegal immigrants unless they commit a crime. Isn’t staying staying in the country illegally a crime, hence the term “illegal”? I don’t know.
I wish the pro-illegal immigration crowd would be honest and just argue for open borders with no checks on anyone instead of this “we’ll keep saying its a crime and never enforce it” position. And that’s the main thing about the pro-illegal immigration people: Dishonesty. The way they’re always trying to conflate illegal immigration with legal immigration shows they know they have an untenable position and want to do anything they can to avoid dealing with it head on. That’s why we have to keep the pressure on. We can’t give up America’s sovereignty just because some people think they have a great position to win votes.
* With the economy in shambles and high unemployment, what’s the big issue right now? Evolution! You can see a video here of a mentally disturbed mom trying to push her kid into asking Rick Perry about it, and Jon Huntsman for some reason thought it was a good idea in the Republican primary to loudly profess his belief in it along with global warming — ’cause he’s smart.
I hate the belief in evolution. I don’t have any particular problem with the science of it, but I hate the belief in it. We sure spend a lot of time arguing about evolution considering that 99% of people could never have heard of evolution and it wouldn’t have caused a single change in their lives. It’s only has actual practical use to a few scientists, but it’s super important everyone believe in it for some reason. You could hear in that deranged mother’s voice how important she thought it was to press Perry on that issue, when I think I can go out on a limb and guess she’s a scientific illiterate who doesn’t even understand evolution (same for Huntsman). Science is something that’s supposed to be different from religion, but it seems like few people can hold on to that distinction in their minds. Instead it’s always reduced to people having to loudly profess certain beliefs whether they understand them or not because it just feels super important everyone believe them. That fact is, most people could live their lives thinking the sun revolves around the earth and it wouldn’t adversely affect them at all, but if just feels almost offensive to let people think that wrong way. That’s because we don’t let science be what it is and make it a worldview. A religion. Poor little science isn’t up to that.
* Word is coming from people close to the Obama campaign that they’d rather face Rick Perry than Mitt Romney because he’s easier to beat. Consider the strength of Obama right now, isn’t that like Obama saying he’d rather fight the Hulk in a cage match rather than Superman because he thinks the Hulk is easier to beat. Maybe true, but either way he’s getting pounded into a fine paste. That’s why there’s so much talk about other people getting in the race, because if you’re a Republican who wants to be president, now is probably one of the best opportunities you’ll have to run against a weak Democrat. And if you’re going by the William F. Buckley rule — “Nominate the most conservative candidate who is electable.” — the most conservative person electable is going to be a lot more conservative than in other years.
Hopefully we can find that conservative. But if we can’t, Romney’s willing and ready and Obama’s scared of him!
* Those serious liberals at Think Progress have identified what’s the problem in our failing economy: We don’t all get guaranteed paid vacations! How has America survived like this? I don’t know! Let’s pay more people not to work; I’m sure that will get things moving in this economy. Especially if it’s Obama and Congress.
And if you didn’t get enough liberal seriousness, here’s a new one on the super-serious issue of global warming: If we don’t stop it, aliens may invade us and kill us all. Yes, NASA scientists are actually arguing that. I guess they’ve given up arguing on any direct effect from global warming, so now they have to add an alien invasion to make it a threat. One supposition is that green aliens may see the harm we’re causing and wipe us out. That’s been the plot of a few scifi movies and it’s supposed to make us think, but have you ever thought of it the other way? Like if humans went to Pandora and found that the blue people were horrible polluters and we decided to mass slaughter them to save the planet, would we in any way be good guys? And if we’re wiping out all intelligent life, who exactly are we saving the planet for? If there are really aliens out there that think that way, we need to hunt down and exterminate those arrogant, murderous sociopaths before they kill more civilizations.
* Wisdom of the Day: Here’s Andy Levy delivering a righteous beatdown to Chris Brown:
* I haven’t posted pictures of Buttercup in a while, so here you go:
More pictures here of the cutest baby ever.
Bucket Girl reminds me of something I once saw in a game.
If aliens are going to wipe us out for destroying the planet, they’d have done it a long time ago.
I wouldn’t have thought it was possible for the executive branch to decide not to enforce laws passed by the legislative branch. Not that it matters, because these jackwagons don’t actually deport illegal aliens no matter what they do.
I guess since Obama can’t convince any actual Americans to vote for him, he’s hoping to get 400 million illegal immigrants here and on the rolls before November of next year.
Most people get at least 104 vacation days a year.
One of the main problems with science is that today’s red hot fact cast in concrete…may be tomorrow’s cold crock of disproven s**t.
Nice to see Buttercup knows which end of her body belongs in the bucket. 0bama doesn’t seem to have figured that out yet.
Dear Frank J,
I notice in the above photos that you’re attempting to cook a small child. I would like to make some suggestions to make your dining experience more enjoyable.
1) You’re going to need a larger pot.
2) You’re going to need a lid. They jump out and scream a lot when you drop them in the boiling water, and that book will not sufficiently distract her.
3) Might I suggest a lemon sauce, and don’t use a wine base if you will be serving wine with the child.
4) Do not deep fry children…calories, calories, calories, and you don’t want Buttercup to go straight to your hips.
5) A blender? Just say no…those are strictly for puppies. Using them for anything else would just be sick.
6) I think more than one poster here would recommend a nice bacon wrap…always festive.
7) Garnish, garnish, garnish…so much of the dining experience is really about presentation, isn’t it?
8) A side dish is always welcome. Might I suggest waffles?
9) A side salad may seem trendy but, in reality, no one actually likes salad. Better to start out with a first course of chips and onion dip.
10) It’s understandable to never again invite someone to dinner who doesn’t ask for seconds…after all, that’s your precious child they’re spurning.
The Left insists on saying a person is “anti-immigration” when the person objects to illegal aliens. So, taking a page from their playbook why don’t we start saying that all those who don’t want to fully enforce immigration laws are…
ANTI-LAW ENFOREMENT
@FormerHostage: It might make a better impact if we included the “C” in ENFOREMENT. Or are you ANTI-SPELINNG?!
Nice plaid shorts, Frank.
Not only are we up to our armpits in illegal aliens but we’re also up to our armpits in killer green space aliens! Right now they are honing their killer skills by kidnapping cows. Cows, as everyone knows, are a leading cause of global warming by emitting ozone depleting methane gas! Now ask yourself this question…once they’ve rid the world of cows can we humans be far behind? As usual (except for a handful of brave NASA scientists) the government is trying to cover this threat up. Wake up people before it’s too late! You’ve been warned…… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFfSmKtvW7A&feature=related
After looking through all the Buttercup pictures, my first thought was, “Awww, she’s so cute!” My next thought was, “WTF is up with those shorts, Frank?”
Formerhostage, calling them anti-law enforcement would just encourage them. Most if them hate the police anyway. You would be better of talking about illegals leaving garbage in the desert and calling them anti-environment.
Frank looks like a dork! Let’s all bully him!
MarkoMancuso,
I look awesome. You’re a dork.
OK, here’s my suggestion: Illegals can stay here provided they
a- only do jobs that are icky
b- don’t commit crimes (I mean, you know, MORE crimes), and
c- have to wear the Frank J. shorts all the time so we can identify them when we see them committing the crimes, as they will
Crabby, that’s an old trick that dictionary printers used to use. You make up a word and put it in the book. Then if another publisher puts out a dictionary with the made up word you know they plagerized you.
I”m not anti-spelling! I just don’t think Tori can act worth a damn!
Buttercup’s been workin’ on the hand grip strength thingies… I can tell!!! She’s got a pair of NAD Grabbers on her! Good girl Buttercup!!! Be sure and TWIST after you grab!!! There you go…practice on daddy!!!
Marko, you’re cooked now. Frank’s comment is the equivalent of High Praise!
(I’m in Tennessee, of all places. Wow, it’s hot here!)
Hey Frank, the black socks pulled up to your knees with flip flops called. They said you forgot them when you had your picture taken.
I’d agree with you, but these aren’t your average everyday aliens that the NASA scientists are positing. These aliens are super powerful and omniscient and can see the future and they are going to obliterate us because we deserve it and they are awesome. Do you see how nicely that all fits together? That’s why they work at NASA and we don’t.
Jimbo, I once saw a Tennessee town called Bucksnort. The locals had pick-ups and the main attraction was a dive bar. I love it.
Buttercup:
Ran out of diapers again, eh?
Replace a couple of terms gives:
Curious. Feel the same?
That’s because we don’t let science be what it is and make it a worldview. A religion. Poor little science isn’t up to that.
I wish I could have articulated this. I know natural section happens and I believe evolution is one possible explanation of how this version of man happens to be here. When I stated this on another site, I was met with holy hell. I was considered utterly stupid for not knowing the parts we theorize about as well as the parts that are proven.
Consider the strength of Obama right now, isn’t that like Obama saying he’d rather fight the Hulk in a cage match rather than Superman because he thinks the Hulk is easier to beat. No, it is nothing like that. Obama can beat Perry and he likely cannot beat Romney. Fortunately Romney cannot beat Perry as roughly 20-25% of the vote in the Republican Party is centrist and the rest is radical. Obama should be scared of Romney. I want Perry to get the nomination.
If we don’t stop it, aliens may invade us and kill us all. This is not what liberals believe. You may have found one that thinks that and attributed it to all of them. To assume all believe this is to employee the use of a composition fallacy.
I think Obama wants Romney because he is counting on the anti-Mormon vote from some who mistakenly believe Obama is Christian.
Hey Jimmy, if they offer you the Ned Beatty Suite…run!!! Just drop everything and run!!! What is about to happen isn’t purdy and you (probably?) won’t enjoy it much! If you already hear the banjo music, just drop trou. and bend over because it’s too late!!!
hwuu…ahhhhhhhhhhhh! I think you are correct! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I can’t take it any more!
When God get’s really mad (and I’m thinkin’ He has to be getting pretty close) and the smoting starts and such. He will tell us when we meet Him where we can stick many of our science “theories” like “evolution”!!! We won’t be doing any smarty pants arguing either once we behold Him! We will be face down and some people will be going uh oh!!!
One of the commenters at Hot_Air posted this gem.
Kudos to troyriser_gopftw:
“Lots of Mormon-bashing going on in this thread, and it isn’t right. I grew up in a part of Indiana that happens to have a large concentration of LDS members. Many of my childhood friends were Mormons and remain friends to this day. They are, by and large, good people and most of them are rock-solid poltical conservatives who believe in the same country in which I believe. The religion they practice is, to me, irrelevant. They could be Buddhists, for all I care.
It is shameful both Huntsman’s and Romney’s faith is used against them whenever people (both Left and Right) argue against their respective candidacies. Personally, I don’t care for Huntsman at all on the basis of his professed political views, and I’m not keen on Romney, either, whose calculating style and middle-of-the-road pandering leave me cold.
As it happens, I believe a Jewish carpenter from an obscure part of the old Roman Empire is the literal Son of God, that He performed miracles, that He died horribly on a cross, and that He came back from the dead and physically ascended into Heaven in front of hundreds of witnesses. If I tried explaining those beliefs to one of the space aliens NASA is so worried about, I can only imagine the response–unless, of course, they’re Christians, too, which is not so unlikely.
All that said, Romney and Huntsman can worship however and Whomever they choose. None of my business. None of yours, either.”
(I wish I was all like, articulate and stuff, so I could write good like that.)
4of7, you are probably right. It’s just that us Christians are offended at the use of our name. Not only by the Mormons but by the Christian Scientists and any other group that is not truly Christian.
But for politics, it should not matter. It’s just that Romney is a RINO dufus that we have a problem with and as for Huntsman, he’s gone insane! He believes in Evolution and Man-made Global Warming. Good luck with those two positions among Republicans!!!
4of7, while I truly appreciate the comments from the poster on HotAir (and yourself of course) it’s a shame this persons childhood friends did not let him know that “Mormons” or members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe in the same Jewish Carpenter. They pray to the Father in His name, they read the scriptures to learn of Him and to understand His will, so that they can follow it. They seek a closer more personal relationship with Him and know that can only happen if they are knowledgeable of and obedient to His commandments.
This might just be educational. While I’m sure those who hate “us” won’t find anything “virtuous, lovely or of good report” those who are true Christians and believe in the 2 great commandments (Matthew 22:39) might come away with a better understanding. That said, while my faith in man is weak;
” I glory in plainness; I glory in truth; I glory in my JESUS (caps for emphasis by me) , for he hath redeemed my soul from hell.” Nephi 33:6 (Book of Mormon)
(btw, you are an awesome example of real Christianity, thank you and you are plenty articulate)

Why is this hard? Mormons ARE Christians. I’m not a Mormon, but this isn’t hard for me to understand. Whatever block makes it impossible for some to understand this must be the same block that makes some Dems literally unable to understand that spending doesn’t cut debt. I don’t get what that block is, but maybe one glorious day light will dawn on Marblehead.
Also, I’m fairly certain that a belief in evolution is far from insane. In fact, I’m fairly certain it is supported left, right, and sideways. Then again for some reason, most people don’t properly understand what evolution is (as demonstrated by the monkey slowly turning into bipedal man depiction – sooooo not evolution). I also don’t see why it is mutually exclusive of creation so I don’t freak out over the whole evolution/creation thing.
Quite frankly, I don’t care if the next POTUS believes in Scientology, Christian Science, or that ventriloquist dummies are actually real people with ‘felt skin disease’ …. just get rid of the stupid ‘healthcare’ law and stop building debt and reform Medicare/caid/SS.
Evolution is important, Carolyn because first it is insane. It violates everything we see in nature. Species can’t “inter-breed” and it does away with a Creator!
It also does away with a Biblical narrative written by the Holy Spirit which says that God made Man in “His own image”! This sets us apart from the rest of the animal kingdom. We are not “evolved” from some primordial ooze! We were created in the image of God! This is a very important part of life! Jesus didn’t come to earth to save polar bears. He came to earth (as a man) to save sinful men by dying for them! And Jesus was the Creator of the Universe!
As for the Mormon question, one must study to question and understand…or not. That is up to you!
Well, shoot. I must be certifiable then. Probably not a Christian, either. Well, I’m off to worship Satan I guess. Later dudes.
Oh dearest Carolyn(congrats on the preggy thing) I have learned the hard way that one can never change the mind of someone whose mind is already made up. It doesn’t matter how much experience you’ve had, doesn’t matter how much you’ve studied, doesn’t matter how many people you know personally. They’ve studied it and found it wanting, they don’t believe it therefore it cannot be true. One does not expect to find that kind of closemindedness among those who say that everyone should be free to believe as they like but then again how often do we all do one thing and say another.
I am always uncomfortable when someone refers to the “the Mormon Question”. Makes me think of Great Britain and “the Irish Question”. They (the Brits) tried very hard to commit genocide for centuries in Ireland. We in the colonies were at least worth fighting for, the Irish were only worth being allowed to starve to death. I would say that couldn’t happen here but well we’ve had a taste of benevolent dictatorship. This is what having an intolerant, inept, incompetent, ideologue for president, is like, so welcome to the nightmare.
As far as real evolution goes, it happens all the time. Animals and even people adapt to their surroundings and the food available to them. Since I wasn’t involved in the actual creation (Ie organizing, not making out of nothing) of this world, I do not presume to know exactly how God chose to do the things he did. I do not know what ingredients he used, or what kind of scientific laws and principles he used. All I know is that God is the creator of this universe, His Son died for us, and all that I have or am is because of that sacrifice. I can’t worry about what other people think of that, it doesn’t matter in the vast eternal scheme of things let them worship whatever their comfortable with. And I don’t let the rigid views of others dictate what I believe. They get to answer for their own inflexible intolerant attitudes. I have my own fault, issues and yes sins to deal with.
Sean, my cousin down south asked what I was reading. I suggested he try American Alone by Mark Steyn. He looked on the internet and wrote me it looked like hogwash and he wasn’t interested in any right wing crap. I just lost all respect for my cousin. He is old enough to have an inquiring mind. Here I thought he was so clever. He is as clever as Joe Biden. Anyway, like you said, people seem to make up their minds and refuse to look at any other possible viewpoint.
@Island girl, some people just can’t break out of their comfort zones. As long as they’re happy I try to leave them alone. All that freedom stuff I believe in so strongly. You’re right though it’s hard to take people seriously who close their minds and refuse to even consider other views or even better who believe things that are patently false. But don’t give up on your cousin, much more Obamanations and even he may be a convert. Heh.
Thanks, seanmahair.
I’m Roman Catholic myself, and have heard enough talk about ‘Catholics aren’t Really Christians’ to become sympathetic to others whose doctrines, histories, or simple public perceptions leave them open to the same accusation. I’ve found folks of good faith in all sorts of denominations, even though their modes of worship and Bible interpretations differ from mine.
The apostle Paul had a similar problem to deal with in the church in Corinth,
(1 Corinthians 1:12-13):
“What I mean is that each one of you says, ‘I belong to Paul,’ or ‘I belong to Apollos,’ or ‘I belong to Cephas,’ or ‘I belong to Christ.’ Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?”
After examining the problem, he concludes
(1 Corinthians 4:1-5)
“This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy. But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by any human court. I do not even judge myself. I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not thereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me. Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purpose of the heart. Then every man will receive his commendation from God.”
So, if my faith is in error, I’ll have to wait till the Lord reveals it.
Then it’ll be “Oops, Sorry!” time for me.
(back to 1 Corinthians, this time 3:11-15)
“For no other foundation can any one lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any one builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw – each man’s work will become manifest; for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work which any man has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.”
I expect there will be a lot of people with smoldering clothes (saved, but only as through fire) gathered around the throne on that Day, but still glad to be there.
Hope to see you there, seanmahair. (and Island girl, and Carolynethepregnant, and you too, ussjimmycarter, and all the other honorable ronin of IMAO.)
I still want that field trip to Fiddler’s Green too! 😉
“Like if humans went to Pandora and found that the blue people were horrible polluters and we decided to mass slaughter them to save the planet”
I’d see this movie, as long as all the murderous hippie “planet savers” get shot to death by Bruce Willis before they can execute their plan.
@ 4 of 7 I hope to see you there too. I don’t seem to have a lot of trouble with the basics but this enduring to the end business is kicking my butt. Growing older is definitely not for the faint of heart nor is it for sissies. As they used to say in the 70’s “hang in there baby, Fridays coming”. I’m hanging by my finger nails.
#42 – seanmahair,
Don’t hang around, take refuge!
“Because you have made the LORD your refuge,
the Most High your habitation,
no evil shall befall you,
no scourge come near your tent.
For he will give his angels charge of you
to guard you in all your ways.
On their hands they will bear you up,
lest you dash your foot against a stone.
You will tread on the lion and the adder,
the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.
Because (she) cleaves to me in love,
I will deliver (her);
I will protect (her),
because (she) knows my name.
When (she) calls to me,
I will answer (her);
I will be with (her) and honor (her).
With long life I will satisfy (her),
and show (her) my salvation.”
– Psalm 91:9-16
(parentheses added for personal effect)
Memorize that book; it’s perfect for reciting on a plane trip:
The sun has set not long ago.
Now everybody goes below,
To have a bath in one big tub
With soap all over, scrub scrub scrub.
They hang their towels on the wall
And find pajamas, big and small.
With some on top and some beneath,
they brush and brush and brush their teeth.
And when the moon is on the rise,
they all go up to exercise!
And down once more, but not so fast,
They’re on their way to bed at last.
The day is done, they say good night,
And somebody turns off the light.
The moon is high, the sea is deep,
They rock and rock and rock to sleep.
#24-TGregg
I think the more relevant question is how you feel about that, and whether it is the exact thing Frank is complaining about. Authentic Science! is probably about 90% data collection, 9% scrutinizing current theories, 1% theorizing, and 0% fussing about who believes in any particular theory. We are not going to usher in a golden age of Science! by fishing for creationists and purging them from the public sector.
