Obama wants you to know that if you’re rich and successful, it’s not because you’re smart and hard working, it’s because government helped you out. So why isn’t government helping me be rich? What is it with Obama and his lazy stupid government making so few people rich these days? I pay my taxes; make me rich, Obama.
I’m waiting.
Oh! I got something from Obama in the mail! I bet it’s about making me rich…
No. It’s just food stamps.
Oh, but it is, Frank. The Gov. has arranged for Buttercup and her children to pay for your expensive Social Security and Medicare.
If you are able to pay taxes, you are already too rich and successful, and need to pay more taxes to redistribute to the 50% who are not lucky enough to make a taxable income. And yes, of course giving money to poor people will make them self-sufficient, productive members of society, who will be taxed in turn to make other people successful with government benefits. Did I mention I did away with the work rules in welfare reform by executive fiat? Working won’t make the poor successful, only government assistance can do that! (Pay no attention to that economist behind the curtain muttering “When you subsidize behavior, you get more of it.” Permanent underclass? That’s just crazy talk.)
Hey! You didn’t make this blog a success on your own! You’d be nowhere if it wasn’t for Al Gore leading the government to create the internet…
Obama: There was a great teacher somewhere in your life.
Jim: There were many. I attended private schools.
Obama: If you’ve got a business – you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.
Jim: That somebody must have been invisible. I didn’t see anybody else helping when I was cranking out all that code.
Obama: The Internet didn’t get invented on its own.
Jim: You’re right. The Department of Defense (you know, those people for whom you have no respect) invented it, as the Arpanet. I know that for a fact, because I had an ID on it as early as 1979. And, by the way, you might want to learn the difference between the internet and the world-wide web, which is only part of the internet.
