Random Thoughts: Inherited Messes

It’s nice to have so simple a mind you can reduce complex economic theory down into, “Wah! Those people have more money than me!”

I’m still waiting for someone to draw a line from point A – raise taxes on rich – to point B – economic recovery.

Obama’s economic plan seems to be 1) Raise taxes 2) Chastise business creators for not being grateful enough of the government.

Going after the rich gets the same results as Wile E. Coyote going after the roadrunner.

I’m positive about the future; I own a couple shotguns.

I like the president saying he has a “plan” now. So that’s what he’s doing the past four years: planning.

North Korea’s Olympics performance shows us what to expect from them if their country ever got access to food.

Obama was president these past four years. Romney should keep pointing that out as it doesn’t make Obama look good.

Obama: “I inherited this mess from Bush.”
Romney: “If you think that’s bad, look what I’m going to inherit!”

Romney wants to deny women contraception by murdering them.

“What is it we chant again? S.U.A?” -liberal trying to get into Olympic spirit

Obama 2012: The first four years were just practice.

Obama 2012: Four more years of me whining about how the GOP won’t cave to my demands will get us back on track!

Obama says he inherited this mess from Bush, but Bush inherited problems too. Maybe we’re all still cleaning up Jimmy Carter’s mess.

The Huntsmans have left the Republican Party over it not being inclusive enough of Huntsmans.

They should do a reality show where they pick the next over the top judge for a reality show.

Hussein? Usain!

Whoever wins the presidential election, I hope most of what he does doesn’t affect me.

Spellcheck in GoogleDocs has redlined “light” and wants to change it to “slight.” Light is a word, right? I’m not going crazy?

  1. And considering Carter’s role in establishing the Housing and Community Development Act of 1977 (specifically the Community Reinvestment Act), which a lot of economists point to as the underlying cause of the housing market crash last decade…why yes, we are all just cleaning up after Carter.

  2. I’ve wondered for a long time if it’s even possible to clean-up after Carter. The guy mangled most everything.

But cleaning-up after Obama – that’s a task for Gov. Mitt Romney, the next Congress and their successors, regardless. Or we’re burnt toast.

  3. Unfortunately, all polls and whatnot point to another four years of Obama. I know, it seems impossible that people would vote him back in again, but too many “folks” depend on government help now, and they know that Obama is their guy if they want to keep getting stuff from the government.

So, if that happens, just imagine the mess four years from now.

    Mebbe.

It could be worse. Firefox has always thought that I reside in England. Thus, I have spell check problems with words such as, defense, neighbor, centrefold, humour (a challenge for me either way), colour, tyre, oestrogen, goitre and calibre (I use the last three quiet a bit).

Why can’t Brits spell write? I could live with faeces, but what’s up with goitre?

  5. Going after the rich gets the same results as Wile E. Coyote going after the roadrunner.

    1. Obama says that he’s going after “the rich”, but he’s always talking about income taxes, which tax income, not wealth. Thomas Sowell has had a fair amount to say about the difference between the high-income and the rich.

    2. The results are even worse than Wile E. Coyote’s. People leave. One of the (many) reasons that I left California was that both state and local government thought that the solution to everything was to raise my taxes. Somehow, the city of Mountain View (home to Google) had to cut the hours of the public library but still had money for committees on the status of women and on diversity. Over the past dozen or so years, an average of 1,500 people per week have left California for other states. That’s more than 900,000 people, who have probably been more than replaced by illegal immigrants.

    3. Point #2 applies at the national level, as well. Think of Eduardo Saverin, the Facebook co-founder, born in Brazil, brought to the US at age eight, who
renounced his citizenship and has moved to Singapore. I am currently looking at what I would have to do to become a permanent resident and, eventually a citizen, of Canada, if the American people are foolish enough to re-elect Obama.

    4. With regard to points #2 and #3, it’s the wealth creators who leave. Some wealth creators will stay, of course; unfortunately, all the parasites will stay.

  6. Light is a word, right? I’m not going crazy?

It has been replace with “lite.” If you are talking about the opposite of darkness, it has been replaced with “low energy CFL illumination source” (or “tyranny,” for short).

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!1!!1!!!! You know what they call “bacon,” right?

  8. Burmashave says: . . . oestrogen, goitre and calibre (I use the last three quiet a bit).

I wasn’t aware that the British spelling for “quite” is “quiet.” As for the others, is the calibre of one’s goitre affected by one’s oestrogen levels?

The spelling review program on my computer allows one to set the dictionary for regional English, including English as it is used in Australia, Belize, Canada, the Caribbean, Hong Kong S.A.R., India, Indonesia, Ireland, Jamaica, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Trinidad & Tobego, the U.K. and the U.S. Mine was set for Canada for some reason, and gave me heck over the spelling of defense/defence, which was quite annoying, since I am a lawyer and the word comes up fairly often (although perhaps not as often as you make use of calibre, goitre and oestrogen).
