  1. And they lament the state of physical fitness in the country as if the decline in free play on playgrounds is an unrelated. Sure, a multi-variaant analysis would reveal multiple causes. Among these causes would be TV, electronics, lack of tort reform, and paranoid parents–as if now that we don’t have nuclear destruction as a serious worry, parents are now channeling all their worrying into micromort range concerns. Still, at some point people have to say, no, these things are going to happen; we will make all *reasonable* efforts to avoid injury; but kids are still going to get hurt. Sarah Hoyt probably has a better rant on her blog than one I could write in the minutes I’m going to use.
