  1. If you have negative buoyancy in fresh water and neutral or slightly positive buoyancy in saltwater, you learn to swim knowing that and it keeps you on alert in lakes, rivers and pools. I sink to the bottom of the pool with a moderate breath of air. Kind of fun, actually.

    These days, babies learn to swim and if you keep up their swimming experiences when they’re toddlers, it’s a lot like riding a bike. You never forget. So, teach your 1 year-old to swim and keep them swiming.

  2. @#1 – Actually wittnessed this over the holiday. Grandma, who should have known better, was coaxed to go off the diving board by here grandchildren. She came up with hair over her face and started “climbing the ladder”. Life guard saw it but hesitated, not sure what to do. Several family members watching went in after her and got her to the side of the pool.
