On Memorial Day, I sometimes get thanked for my service (US Navy, 1985-1991), but that’s what Veteran’s Day is for. Today, it’s about the men who sealed their oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution with their blood.
Springer’s Blog has some thoughts on that.
And his post reminds me to ask the question “what happened to the guys who raised the flag on Iwo Jima?”
IwoJima.com answers to my satisfaction.

You can also find out what happened to the flag raisers by reading “Flags of our Fathers”, by James Bradley and Ron Powers. Bradley is the son of the Navy Corpsman, John Bradley, who was one of the six flag raisers.
Forget the film, unless you have already read the book.
