One Less Consonant to Pronounce. America Wins Again!

[Why Do Some English Speaking Countries Pronounce Z as “Zed” and Others as “Zee”?] (Viewer #172,063)

Short answer, Zed is short for the Greek letter “zeta”

So why don’t the British say more of the letters like abbreviated Greeks? Alph, Bet, Delt, Eps… and so forth?

I don’t know whole Greek alphabet, so I can’t finish that example.

But I do like gyros.

Even if I don’t know how to pronounce them.
