A New York lawyer is going to court to argue that chimpanzees deserve “personhood” rights.
Poor chimp. Next he’ll have to sign up for Obamacare.

Respectfully submitted,
Amicus Curiae George
… and The Man In The Yellow Hattorney, Esq.
.
It sounds like they’re just throwing everything against the wall to see what sticks.
That should clear up any Harambiguities.
Was this an ad hominid attack?
From now on, you’ll need a writ of habeas coprophagous.
“Planet of the Habeas.”
.
“Hold on, Jim. Give ’em their Miranda-ah-ah-ah-ooh-ooh-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah rights.”
I’m sure the lawyer took the case pro bonobo.
More proof we’re becoming a banana republic.
.
“chimpanzees deserve “personhood” rights.”
Wait. Aren’t the ones in the zoos already under surveillance 24/7?
.
Meh. Until they get off their knuckles, they don’t have standing.
This lawsuit won’t go anywhere. Cheetahs never prosper.
Unprefrontal-lobed Immigrants?

“Next he’ll have to sign up for Obamacare”
Only if Paul Ryan tries to change ‘macaca’ to a ‘macahca.’
Just another lame attempt to expand the Democrat voter base.
From the same people who brought you: “colored people” = BAD!! “people of color” (the exact same thing) = GOOD! :
If you compare people to apes….you’re a racist. So what are you when you compare apes to humans?
Should apes go to prison when they rip someones face off?
….and who pays for this guy to show off his
amazing legal mindmental disorder? There is an argument in favor of it. If you ignore the concept of species, which is a man made arbitrary classification, the primary difference between humans and say, cows, is we are self aware and cows are not. If we deserve rights because we’re self aware, there is an argument that can be made that other self aware creatures deserve rights, too. Whether they deserve the same rights as humans or not is a different issue. The great apes, elephants, and the dolphins and whales are all apparently self aware. So for an example, what use would an elephant have for a driver’s license?
I’m still mulling over how the concept of species is either man-made or arbitrary.
Where humans do not exist, octopi are still unable to mate with lions.
O I don’t know you get a lion into the water and ply it with a few vodka martinis…
So “The Probability Broach” is coming true? Awesome! I can’t wait for the first Gorilla President to win the global Solitaire championship because he has nothing better to do.
No doubt he would argue vehemently against extending “personhood” rights to unborn human beings. It is difficult to demonstrate one’s self-awareness in a dark womb.
