Some legal experts are currently wrestling with the question of whether a robot can be considered a legal person.
So… if they’re not, do we have to send them to Mexico?

Great, then they will get unionized and start voting Democrat.
How about “No. Next question?”
Can a screwdriver be considered a legal person? No. Next question.
If so, robots would have Second Amendment rights. Have they thought this through?
Asimov looked into this in the story “Bicentennial Man.”
Then there was the one episode of Star Trek The Next Generation when they had a trial regarding Data’s “humanity.”
I think we need to make a distinction here between “Robot” and “Artificial Intelligence”.
Does this mean that a robot that doesn’t make it off the factory floor has been Aborted?
Does this mean that a robot that doesn’t make it off the factory floor has been Aborted?
Yes, and the manufacturing machine parent has full rights to abort at any time prior to complete separation and autonomy. The wishes of any humans who designed the “products of engineering” and initiated the manufacturing process are irrelevant.
Well as long as Planned Robot Parenthood can sell the “parts” for a profit I guess everyone will be satisfied and no Robot will be burdened by an unwanted babybot.
This is also important so that Robots won’t be forced to go to some dirty back alley machine shop for an FMD* procedure.
*Fetal Machine Disassembly.
Of course there should be a law requiring that they be shown the schematics of the new unit and be able to see its functioning motor.
Either way, someone’s getting a Lamborghini out of it.
