  1. I had quite a nice Christmas with some friends – dinner at their farm, with a total of four people present. Snow on the ground, but not too much on the pavement. I have no family living within two-hundred miles of where I do, but I telephoned my brothers and had nice talks with both of them. When I returned home, I read some of Rod Dreher’s book The Benedict Option, which I find a thought-provoking and downright disturbing book.

Charles Babbage, the man who initiated the idea of a programmable digital computer, was born in London, December 26, 1791. Write some code today in memory of him. I will be (well, I’ll be doing it to make money, as well).
