Nino Rota, best known for his film scores but also a composer of chamber music and music for ballets (and a handy name to know if somebody asks you for the names of Italian composers whose names don’t end in the letter i), was born December 3, 1911, in Milan, Italy (not Milan, Illinois, which also exists). My guess is that you don’t have a single one who would ask you to name an Italian composer.
I once won two tickets to the San Francisco Opera by naming five Italian composers whose names don’t end in the letter “i” (it was a quiz on a program on a radio station in San Francisco that broadcast classical music).
