It is an F chord with a G on top (on the 12-string)…said George Harrison but how in the hell should he know I’ve heard my whole life he couldn’t read music. But at least I got the Eagles song out of my head now…uh oh…here comes that F chord darnit!
I saw once a reference to a YouTube video that discussed the chord. It had a hundred thousand comments, and another jillion links. (To the effect of: “With an A Major thrown in on overdubbing.”)
It was a rabbit hole.
As far as I could tell, no one ever got to the bottom of it.
You’d think that science could give a definitive answer, but science being synonymous with Fauci, who knows?
All I remember about that movie was when, as a ten-year-old, I got so angry at all the girls in the audience screaming every time they played a song, or ran, or smiled…
Trivia aside: Patty Harrison is in the movie with them on the train, as one of their schoolgirl admirers. They met on the set. He and Clapton wrote multiple songs about her, including “Something” and, I think, “Layla.” Not a bad record.
Now if you want REAL entertainment, look up a great Canadian boy named ” Stan Rogers..try “Barretts Privateers” or “Northwest Passage”..if they know I am in the Legion, a certain band has me get up and sing that first song..
Yet — you could have done a mean solo on “I Should Have Known Better,” also in that film.
John Lennon gave up doing harmonica solos because of that song. He realized that Paul would have to sing the next line, before he (John) could get his breath back from the harmonica solo.
Bonus!

“Welcome to the Hotel California . . . “
They mean it when they say you can never leave.
At least it’s a lovely place.

Wait’ll you see the Walrus home movies, once he reluctantly admits to the Las Vegas cuties that he’s somehow associated with IMAO…

I remember being very disappointed that I could not achieve “that chord” on my Marine Band, b-flat harmonica.
