Powell: ‘The US is on an unsustainable fiscal path’
The Hill | 02/04/2024 | Taylor GiornoFederal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said “the U.S. is on an unsustainable fiscal path” in a 60 Minutes interview with Scott Pelley released Sunday.
“The U.S. federal government’s on an unsustainable fiscal path. And that just means that the debt is growing faster than the economy. So, it is unsustainable. I don’t think that’s at all controversial,” Powell said when asked if the national debt is a danger to the economy.
. . . to The Hill and ’60 Minutes,’ no less, they must be setting the stage for something. Something unpleasant.
But that’s not what my congenitally lying House rep says. She hasn’t seen $1 yet that she couldn’t spend $2 of. Votes 98% with Pelosi. Talk about taxation without representation.
Old saying, “Taxation without representation is tyranny!” well “Taxation with representation ain’t so hot either.”
What really gets a blank stare from them is when you ask: “Hey, what’s gonna happen when the Chinese Yen replaces the dollar as the world’s standard currency?
