Mystery Solved: The Oldest Fossil Reptile From the Alps Is an Historical Forgery
University College Cork | 16 Feb 2024A 280-million-year-old fossil that has baffled researchers for decades has been shown to be, in part, a forgery following new examination of the remnants.
The discovery has led the team led by Dr Valentina Rossi of University College Cork, Ireland (UCC) to urge caution in how the fossil is used in future research.
Tridentinosaurus antiquus was discovered in the Italian alps in 1931 and was thought to be an important specimen for understanding early reptile evolution.
Its body outline, appearing dark against the surrounding rock, was initially interpreted as preserved soft tissues. This led to its classification as a member of the reptile group Protorosauria.
However, this new research, published in the scientific journal Palaeontology, reveals that the fossil renowned for its remarkable preservation is mostly just black paint on a carved lizard-shaped rock surface.
…
“The peculiar preservation of Tridentinosaurus had puzzled experts for decades. Now, it all makes sense. What was described as carbonized skin, is just paint”.
Oh-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h…..
The Mona Lizard.
Tridentinosaurus may be fake, but I hope the Doublemint Twins are real.
What’s Walrus Building?
Hi friends, it’s Friday so let us catch up.
I finished the Sturmpanzerwagen A7V take a look.

Pretty easy but I got a more intriguing build ready to start. I’m moving away from various vehicles and ships to something different. While it is not the Lego build I will eventually get when I have enough extra money this a smaller version which should be a challenge.

This will probably take a little longer to build then my other ones which works out since I have preorders in for two vehicles that probably won’t show up until March. It is basically the same Anti-Tank vehicle with a slight variation. I’ve ordered a Ferdinand and an Elephant. When they are done you’ll find out why they are different. Now on to a previous build.

60cm Karl-Great 040 “Ziu”
“Karl-Gerät” (040/041) (German literally “Karl-device”), also known as Mörser Karl, was a World War II German self-propelled siege mortar (Mörser) designed and built by Rheinmetall. Its heaviest munition was a 60 cm (24 in) diameter, 2,170 kg (4,780 lb) shell, and the range for its lightest shell of 1,250 kg (2,760 lb) was just over 10 km (6.2 mi). Each gun had to be accompanied by a crane, a two-piece heavy transport set of railcars, and several modified tanks to carry shells.
Seven guns were built, six of which saw combat between 1941 and 1945. It was used in attacking the Soviet fortresses of Brest-Litovsk and Sevastopol, bombarded Polish resistance fighters in Warsaw, participated in the Battle of the Bulge, and was used to try to destroy the Ludendorff Bridge during the Battle of Remagen. One Karl-Gerät has survived and the remainder were scrapped after the war.

Why Is The Left Suddenly Talking About A ‘Coup’ At The Ballot Box?
Issues & Insights | 8 Feb, 2024 | I & I Editorial BoardThe left is already making the case for extreme, violent action should Trump win.
For the past three years, the left has claimed Donald Trump lied about the 2020 election and then attempted an insurrection on Jan. 6 to overturn the results. But now that Trump is leading in polls, the left is talking ominously about a “coup.” Pay attention, because if Trump wins in 2024, this will be how the left tries to stop him from getting anything done.
At a protest in Washington, D.C., a week ago – organized by a group that calls itself “Stop the Coup 2025” – Markus Batchelor, the national political director of People for the American Way, told the crowd that “Jan. 6 was just a dress rehearsal.”
So is this group predicting Trump will try to take over in 2025 even if Biden wins reelection?
Not exactly. He went on to say that coups “don’t need weapons to succeed.” He said that “coups can be committed by pen and paper,” “coups can be committed at the ballot,” and “coups can be committed by seemingly democratic processes.”
Come again?
The definition of “coup d’etat” in Merriam-Webster’s dictionary is “the violent overthrow or alteration of an existing government by a small group.”
What is Batchelor saying? That if Trump wins in November it will be the equivalent of a violent overthrow of government?
Basically, yes.
The Stop the Coup website says that: “The GOP plans to install a Day One Dictator and dismantle our democracy.”
So, all this “coup” talk is about what Trump would do if he were elected.

The rally was a bust. It attracted only a handful of attendees and, aside from Breitbart and this editorial, doesn’t appear to have generated any press attention. But don’t let that fool you.

Undeciphered Easter Island Tablet May Hold Secrets Of The Ancient World
Daily Caller News Foundation | February 09, 2024 | Kay Smythe
(“God Bless America”)
A wooden tablet discovered on Easter Island may pre-date European colonization of the region, researchers revealed in early February.
Less than 30 wooden tablets containing an undeciphered script called “Rongorongo” were found on the island of Rapa Nui (Easter Island), four of which were removed in 1869 by Catholic Missionaries, according to a study published in the journal Nature. Those wooden tablets were analyzed using radiocarbon dating, and one of them was found to pre-date European settlement on the island, the study said.
Easter Island was “discovered” by Europeans in the 1720s, and absolutely decimated in the years following, the authors described. Though the ancient moai statues are still preserved, much of the island’s ancient writings and culture were lost to the violence of history.
…
Here’s the issue: just because the wood pre-dates European exploration of the island doesn’t mean the script engraved into the wood does. But the fact the script can’t be deciphered just yet is significant. “If Rongorongo predates external travelers, it could represent another, and the latest, invention of writing in human history,” the study’s authors argued.
…
“This is a great development,” another Rongorongo researcher not involved in the present study, Rafal Wieczorek, told Live Science.
“I actually believe that rongorongo is one of the very few independent inventions of writing in human history, like the writing of the Sumerians, the Egyptians and the Chinese,” he reportedly added. “But belief is a different thing than hard data … so ideally, we would like to test all the tablets.”
More research is needed to truly determine the age of the writing, as well as the words themselves. But the data thus far seems to suggest there are still hidden secrets within the history of the ancient world, just waiting to be released.
