Hundreds and hundreds of loaded 35mm slide carousels and a projector with an obsolete bulb.
I have that situation. Except they’re the straight slide cartridges, not carousels.
Then there are the 8mm home movie films that my parents and grandparents took, and the Super8 ones that I myself took. Still haven’t given up on them. Conversion to digital is expensive, since they charge by the foot.
The bulbs in both projectors look like something Edison would have tested and rejected.
You can buy a converting machine cheaper.
I saw that online, but then the ones I looked at said you have to stop the movie reel at each and every frame, to let it capture the image, and I said “screw this for a lark.”
I assume there are ones that don’t require you to do that. I kind of question their quality of image capture or resolution in that case.
Get a Dazzle. They are pretty cheap, and can convert VHS, HI8, pretty much anything with the old Red, White, Yellow cords, assuming you have a device to play it the tape, like a camera or VCR. Dazzles are pretty cheap, I saw a TEMU one for like $8.
FWIW, My mom loves photos and has tons of them and the 35mm film. I got her the Kodak digital converter thing a few years ago. She’s tech savvy enough to use it, but I’m sure she hasn’t even tried.
