Apparently, pit bulls have a taste for human flesh, so why not get a gift for both the baby and Rowdi, right?
A puppy chewed off four of a baby girl’s toes next to her sleeping parents, who were then booked on charges of child desertion and criminal negligence, police said Monday.
Mary Shannon Hansche, 22, and Christopher Wayne Hansche, 26, told police they woke to the baby’s cries, found her mangled foot and took her to the hospital early Sunday.
Police said that they were sleeping on a mattress and that the month-old girl was in an infant seat beside them when the 6-week-old pit bull began chewing on her toes.
“They did not see the dog injuring the child,” police spokesman Mark Natale said.

The puppy might have been trying to nurse on the toes of the baby, a veterinarian speculated.
“I know that sounds a little far-fetched, but that’s the first thing that comes to my mind,” Michael Dale said.
The first thing that came to mind when I read the story was “Baby needs a new pair of shoes.”

These poop-holes must have been on drugs or something. Any baby would have started screaming the minute the dog took the first bite, but they didn’t wake up until the baby’s foot was ruined…

About the only reason these people would be sleeping on a mattress while a pit bull was chewing on their infant, strapped into a car seat! nearby was that the dog was there to protect their stash. This probably accounts for their deep sleep whilh their baby was screaming. Using a car seat instead of a crib is negligence enough. I don’t know if they lived in Florida, but execution by alligator seems somehow relevant.
I blame Evil Glenn!! The canines are just trying to retaliate for all the puppies lost.
I just pray for that child to be put with a family that loves her & that her birthparents NEVER come near her again. As for the pitbull puppy, it needs to be trained to viciously maul & eat the crackheads who had it near the baby, since the dog now has a taste for blood, thanks to them.
Who wants to be they were getting state & federal assistance at the time? Tax dollars well invested yet once again…

my first thought was that the puppy needs a good home with good owners who will train it. my second thought was what idiot owner doesn’t crate their pit bull (who is a puppy and therefore not yet trained) when they have a baby sleeping in the house?
of course, my thought is that this is NOT the dog’s fault. the parents are completely to blame here.

I’ve had at least three puppies. I’ve NEVER heard of them chewing off a digit while allegedly “nursing.” They never even did it when they turned into adult dogs…something doesn’t ring true.
I’ve seen kittens attempt to nurse on human fingers/toes before, but never a dog. Either way, I don’t blame the puppy but rather the idiot parents.
And my pit bull has yet to chew off any toes, tyvm.
Having helped raise five I came to realize that I could sleep through anything. Anything except the cry of a child! May the parents be damned for not being able to hear the cries of the infant! What type of coma were these a**hats in that they could not hear a child that was next to them? Just because people can screw does not give them the right to breed!!!
