I have a very unusual name, which is Polish in origin, although I have ancestors from Ireland and Germany as well as Poland. About twenty years ago, a co-worker (100% caucasian, like me), asked me what my nationality was. I told him that I was American. He was furious, and kept asking. I explained, truthfully, that I had been born in Chicago, that my father had been born in Flint, Michigan, and that my mother had been born in Chicago. I also explained that that made me an American. He really just didn’t get it.

Gawker has an article about how similar all the Miss South Korea beauty pageant contestants look. It is a bit weird, with pics of all and apparently many of them have plastic surgery to obtain the look. A shame really, and none of them had as nice a smile as this lady does.
