New Ads

If you’re like me, you’ve noticed that IMAO has new ads. On my sidebar is Poplish. They’re a new site so you can make money by writing. Check out their FAQ which is pretty entertaining.
I also have a banner ad. I had no idea how much to charge for a banner ad, so I don’t know who took advantage of whom. Anyway, it’s for a calendar from everyone’s favorite bald man, G. Gordon Liddy, of women with guns and motorcycles. What guy couldn’t like that? It also makes a powerful statement for feminism because… uh… well, I’ll figure that one out later.
Anyway, check out the ads to show them that advertising on IMAO is a great idea.

  1. The ads contain a spambot that harvests the e-mail addys from posters. Contact the fellow at Samizdata.net and find out how he installed a filter that prevents this, as well as shielding his commenters from more spam. He seems to be cutting edge regarding the spambots.

  2. “…by discriminating against women who do not fit the Barbie doll ideal, as well as transgendered people, none of whom appear in the calendar!”
And why exactly would I want a calendar with “transgendered” ANYTHING looking back at me from above my desk?!

I heard the entire conversation and it has been taken so far out of context as to be laughable. A woman had asked about rogue BATF agents kicking in the door without warrants and killing people, and Liddy said that if they come on legitimate business or to serve a warrant, citizens should cooperate fully. Self defense would only be justified if, outside the scope of their duty, they broke down the door without a warrant and started shooting first. (Liddy’s an ex FBI agent, and anyone who listens to him knows that the last thing he’d advocate is shooting legitimate law enforcement agents.) That “head shots” quote became a favorite canard — even though Liddy was only talking about legitimate self defense.
Use common sense. If people kicked in your door and started shooting, what would YOU do?
