  1. Well, I am not sure it will be effective against the hatemongers, but I think it does show Dubya as a caring person, who is trying to do his best at one of the worst times to be president, even though he seems to get dragged through every pile of manure they can make by the media, Kerry, etc.

  2. The “anybody but Bush” crowd will try to claim Bush is exploiting 9/11.
    Which he is.
    But that isn’t the point.
The point is that, like it or not, 9/11 is part of our national reality now. A Presidential candidate who DOESN’T make it a campaign issue is indicating he is hopelessly out of touch with our current reality.
So the anti-Bush spin will backfire. Many of the undecideds will be looking to the right at Bush hugging a little girl whose mom was blown to smithereens, then looking left at frothing hate-mongers screaming “how dare you!” and decide to go right.
I predict that by this time next week, Bush will have a 2-4 % bounce in the polls directly from this ad.
On a lighter note: how long will it be before Kerry and/or Edwards brings up the girl’s sexuality?

  3. I’m with ya on that one. Kerry/Edwards campaign will say that Bush killed her mother and caused her greif when he went to that town.
So Senator Kerry, YOU CAUSE ME GREIF BY APPEARING ON TELEVISION! See, I’ll have a great day at school, work goes swell, and then I go home, turn on the tele and there you are spewing off your plan of having a plan. It ruins my day. So I go to bed… sad… I hate you John Kerry. Mean man… :’-(

  4. I don’t know. I just compare W with Clinton biting his lip. After the nausea/thought of violence passes, I am reconfirmed in my resolution to crawl if I have to to the voting booth to vote for W.

  5. Brought tears on for me (but I’m pregnant, so just about ANYTHING brings tears lately…) but I really think that’s a beautiful ad. Does anyone know where it’s running? I think it will definitely have the desired effect.

  6. Did anyone see the memos the crackgate thing is supposed to be satirizing?
Supposedly some democrapic HQ’s were passing around docs about ‘pre0emtive strikes’ if cases of voter intimidation couldn’t be found.
    Did anyone ever confirm those?
