Question of the Day

Is terrorism a nuisance or what?
I remember seeing a comedian on Conan O’Brien’s show pre 9/11 who had a laugh line, “Know what’s annoying? Terrorism.” I guess Kerry wouldn’t have gotten the joke and thought it was an insightful observation.
Am I being unfair to John Kerry?
Probably.
Do I care?
No.
What do you think?

  1. Terrorism is not a “nuisance”. Hurricanes are a nuisance. They just happen, you cannot stop them and you just have to deal with what they do. Big pain in the a$$.
What is the key difference between a hurricane and a terrorist?
You cannot kill a hurricane before it causes damage. They are similar in that neither understands logical thought and cannot be reasoned with. But terrorists can definately be blown-up, thus neutralizing the damage they might do as a terrorist.
This is why the S.M.I.T.E. space laser is effective on terrorists but not Hurricanes.

  2. Hurricanes can too be stopped. OTEC.
    Ocean thermal energy conversion.
We built plantships, park them in tropical waters, and have them suck the energy out of the surface waters until it stay’s below 80 F. If we keep the surface of the ocean below 80 F, hurricanes can’t form.
While the energy will be low-yield, it will pay for itself in terms of energy gained even before you consider the reduced costs from no more hurricanes.
People who think a war on hurricanes is hopeless are just as ignorant as the people who think a war on terrorism is hopeless.

  3. John Kerry said that in a perfect world terrorism would be nothing more than an annoyance. Most people with at least two brain cells to rub together think that John Kerry is annoying.
Ergo: John Kerry is a terrorist.

  4. You know what’s a nuisance? When you’re wiping your ass, and your finger busts through the TP and buries up in your bunghole. And then you have to use up a half a bar of soap washing your hands, and then spray them with Lysol, and then wash them some more. Meanwhile, having somebody wander by loaded down with explosives and shrapnel, and detonate themselves is probably a little more serious. At least in my book.

  5. There are indeed a lot of stupid people in this country and that is indeed sad. Thank your local government indoctrination center (public school) for that. They are a nuisance if I ever saw one. After three hurricanes hitting my house (and I live in Georgia for crying out loud) I’d say they’re a nuisance as well. People who drive under the speed limit, uninformed voters, and people who have nothing more to look forward to every day other than getting up at the crack of noon are all a nuisance. Terrorism a nuisance? No, it’s a cancer, a cancer that must be surgically removed by bunker busters if necessary.
