Quick Reactions to Debate Number 3

Holy crap! John Kerry said a self-effacing joke, and it was actually funny!
And, not only does he have plans now, he has i-deers! The man is unstopable!
Seriously, though, didn’t expect Bush to do the worst in the foreign policy debate and the best in the domestic policy. I hope people were watching this one, because, more so than any other debate, he was the president.
And I’m one of those prayers, Mr. President.
Question of the Night
What do you think of Bush’s almost mention of not trusting the major network news coverage (especially with a moderator from CBS)?
OTHER NOTE: He finally brought up the first Gulf War! Why didn’t he hammer Kerry more on that vote before?
Also, I think Bob (don’t feel like looking up how to spell his last name but still will spend this much time writing an aside) showed his partisanship more than any other moderator. Worst questions of the debate (best were the townhall, and Jim Lehrer’s were decent too).
Way past my bedtime; hope you like the comic and surprise tomorrow.

  1. Wow, that was pretty close…. By the time I hit refresh there’s already a second post.
Anyways, Kerry looked really scary. His dumb smile…I can’t tell if he’s trying to look sincere or trying to look like an idiot.
I’m also waiting for an ideer. Maybe Frank J. can shoot one for us, and email it to the ronin. I just hope it’s not a Democrat ideer. Hate when those pop up in my mail box, antlers up.

  2. Anybody else getting tired of Kerry starting off his answers with “let me tell you what this President has done”? I used to beat my kids for saying “What about so and so?” when they got cauhgt in a lie.

  3. A note on “Integrity, Integrity, Integrity.” After eight years of Clinton-Gore, I thought Democrats would have learned not to talk about people on their deathbeds, as well as in their wheelchairs, in jail, in the hospital, etc. It is absolutely nauseating to me.

  4. Man, that botox injection he had this morning was really showing tonight. Did anyone see the CNN coverage with the guy in the background holding up the sign saying “KERRY EATS BABIES”? I love that guy. GO BUSH!

  5. I thought it was hilarious when Bush started to make fun of msm. Too bad I was in transit when it happened and thus only heard it on the radio. I think he should have completed his thought; it’s not like everybody doesn’t know that cbs only emphasizes their last two initials.

  6. Bush’s MSM mistrust joke went right over my wife’s head. But I’m sure Kerry said (in his head, at least) that he was for and against the Major Network news Coverage. He couldn’t decide whether the MSM passed the Global Test. I think that G.W. hit a home run when he discussed the “Strong women in his life” and said “I’ve learned to Listen to them” and that “Laura speaks better English”.

  7. Yes, they did NOT catch Teresa’s “good side” during the post-debate applause. And by the way, during the opponent’s time, Kerry made quite a few snide and arrogant faces, while the President looked completely professional.
Everything else was pretty much even (other than personal preference on issues). They both spoke well and stuck to most of the questions. They both went off topic a few times. They both addressed their platforms and those of their opponents. So besides the faces, I would call it a draw. Bush by a nose on facial expressions.
    QED

  8. did anyone else think that kerry talking about religion sounded like a miss america speech? i’m just glad i missed the swim suit competition.
i’m not real sure about that “idears” either, it sounded real fake to me. like my dad trying to throw in a nonchalant “bling bling”. is that really just his accent or is he trying to convince people that he’s jfk again?
personally, i think that bush did a much better job than kerry overall, but i’d better check the DU, and make sure i’m not wrong

  9. Bush smoked him like a cheap Clinton cigar.
They both had their moments when they didn’t answer questions and just talked about something else, and they both skewered some facts (as is normal in these situations), but Bush laid the smackdown on his a$$ in my opinion.
Bush showed that he is human, and is a man of principle.
EXACTLY what we need for another 4 more years!

  10. First, I hate spin. On both sides. Second, Kerry LIED about the Assault Weapons Ban. What a complete MOFO!!! Class III weapons aren’t affected, why couldn’t the President call him out on that? Frustraiting, frustraiting, frustraiting. Third, the minimum wage isn’t supposed to BE a living wage!! The President tried to say that if people had proper education, they wouldn’t be working at minimum wage jobs, but even though he understood that, he didn’t get it out. That would have been a home run, but instead was a foul ball. There were several opportunities like that, but he just couldn’t capitalize, I am truly worried about John F-ing Kerry winning now, that wasn’t the debate performance Bush needed.

  11. Excellent points posted above, yes, kerry, you are ALWAYS supposed to listen to your mother. Obviously you didnt, big mistake. As to Bush’s comment on the major network coverage i laughed for, well, quite a while. I am voting for four more years.

  12. This debate was so boring. So much so that I might lobby my representatives to make sure there are no more than 2 debates in 2008 (less would even be better).
Gawd, this was boring. Maybe it’s just Kerry.
Did I mention it was boring?

  13. Fortunately for Kerry, Mr. Bush still doesn’t seem to have the same passion for destroying the domestic enemies of the Constitution as he does the foreign. I guess Mr. Bush is too kind-hearted towards the mentallly-impaired midgets of the Left, even when they seem to be hell-bent on screwing up the Constitution.
And Ter-Ayza did look sorta like something crawled up her butt…….

  14. Okay, I’m done throwing up after seeing F9/11 under the amazon ad.
I was a little disappointed Bush didn’t follow through with what he was about to say but since he is trying to get votes and not lose them I guess it was a smart move

  15. i thought bush missed a good number of oportunities, as he has in the other debates, but i thought he did have some quick thinking that i would give him credit for:
when kerry tried to bring up something he was doing with mccain
“uh, yeah, you remember that guy’s endorsing me, right? yeah, your ‘buddy’ wants you to lose. oh, ok, i was just making sure that you were aware”

  16. I thought the president’s sly side swipe at MSM was smooth, expert and hilarious… not only did he take a well-deserved jab at the media, he also gave a good one to Kerry for being such a dufus for using news outlets in developing his infamous plans… and Bush achieved both those things in a good-natured, non-offensive manner.

  17. I didn’t like that Bush went on and on about education over the ? on min. wage. After reading what Red Mist had to say here, I understand it. Thanks! As for the MSM business, I thought that was jaw-droppingly great! If that was rehearsed, it was well rehearsed–he pulled it off so smoothly… And how could it not be in referrence to the blogosphere? I’d bet he reads IMAO. Hello, Mr. President!

  18. I watched the debate on the Jumbo-tron at the ballpark in Phoenix. Then The President paid us a visit in person and spoke for about 5 minutes. It was so great I had goosebumps! As I was leaving a handsome young man noticed my Nuke The Moon shirt and said “Sweet! I love that website!” So I gave him the thumbs-up and said “Yeah, Frank J.!” (in a Fonzi-esque sort of way) and he said “Frank J.!” It was a true IMAO bonding moment!

    • Sarge … as Dolly Pardon say’s it costs a hell of a lot to look that slutty …
    • Bush by a lot…. Kerrys in trouble if Iraq continues to show positive results over the next couple of weeks….any success there rips Kerry’s whole argument to shreds…
    • Look for the tin-foil gang to swear they could see a piano under Bush’s jacket….
    • Just about time for the DemDummies to drag out the “Hillery is on the way – 2008” bumper stickers…..
  19. If anybody wonders how badly Dubya stomped Kerry tonight…Screw Bush gave you your answer.
I imagine over at DU, half of them are opening their veins in the nearest bathtub, the other half are praying that Hillary will put a bullet between Kerry’s eyes and proclaim: “I AM NOW IN CHARGE! ALL KNEEL BEFORE YOUR DARK MISTRESS!!!” Or something like that…

  20. Kerry’s joke was kinda funny, but it really bombed. A huge steaming stinking bomb. I’m not sure why, because it was funny, but his delivery was awrful. It was like Nixon telling a knock-knock joke. I can just imagine the guy at a state function; “You see, the education system under the Warsaw pact was severely lacking, so the relatively simple task of incandescent bulb replacement requires a concerted effort on the part of several individuals…”

  21. Mr. President, if you’re reading this, thank you.
    Frank, you kick ass.
Everyone, take Nov. 2 off from work and offer to drive friends, neighbors, and old people to the polls. This election may be very close, or a complete Bush blow-out. I hope for a blow-out.
I am disappointed in the GOP. Here in PA they don’t seem serious about winning. I was asked by 6 different neighbors to get Bush yard signs. I went to the county HQ and was told “one per person, no exceptions”. I called the State HQ and was told the same thing. What gives? I know Bush signs are being stolen as fast as they get put up, but to not allow us to replace them stinks.

  22. Oh, and the strain of allowing John full control of the hivemind is clearly showing on Toe-razor. Anyone else catch Bush’s subtle swipe at her? Something along the lines of, “In Laura, you get a charming, sophisticated First Lady.”

  23. yeah, that is screwy…you’d think that they’d want to put them back up as soon as possible. its like painting over graffiti, if you keep painting over it, eventually the ‘artists’ give up, same with the sign stealers, would be my guess. i’d go a step further, they steal one, put two up in its place, bigger than the last. they get stolen, put up four.

  24. Mrs. FormerHostage had me in stitches before the dang thing even started.
As the two walked out and shook hands I said “I wonder what they say to each other?”
Her reply? “There can be only one!”

  25. Thought it was funny that Kerry gave a Sopranos analogy, considering how much campaign cash he has taken from the mob. The mob, the French and the Terrorists all want this guy to be president. Doesn’t that say something to the leftwing retards?

  26. ScrewBush — you have just demonstrated the difference between the left & the right — you hate your enemies, but we love our enemies. Peace and goodwill to you sir, and may you prosper and overcome your anger problem no matter who wins the election.

  27. Dick Cheney’s daughter?!!!! You gotta bring in Dick Cheney’s daughter!!? You got nothing! Could it be any more clear? The rehearsed bits sounded as much for Kerry’s answers to the standard political issues but he sure choked on the issues of character. The man’s gotta bring up Dick Cheney’s daughter?!!

  28. Can someone help me with Capitalist_B’s post? He starts off with “Screw Bush” and then declares that liberals love their enemies.
First off, “Screw (your name here)” is hardly a term of endearment.
Second, is he saying that the President is his enemy? Does this mean that liberals consider all those who don’t share their viewpoint as “enemies?” That sounds a bit extremist doesn’t it? How about anyone who voted (and will vote) for Bush regardless of registered political affiliation? If they too should be considered enemies, isn’t that a bit fascist?
Hmmmm…maybe when he said “love” he meant in the physical, “send me an intern” sense in which case I guess the “screw” rant was appropriate.
Maybe he’s just to nuanced for me.

  29. Our President Showed That “Momma’s Boy” What real Men are made of.
I don’t recall the question on “Strong woman” including his Mother as one of those woman … But then again Not one of the questions asked Kerry What he thought of “This Administration” either….
    He can’t speak for himself
    He can’t Think for himself
    He Can’t show feelings ….
    Must be a programing error
I demand a recall this Robot is defective…

  30. FormerHostage –
“ScrewBush” was the pseudonym given by an earlier commenter, who said only this: “If Bush gets 4 more years then i hope all you idiots die in the wars he starts. Morons.” CapitalistB was responding to ScrewBush’s comment. Hope that clarifies … don’t want you thinking badly of CapB! 🙂

  31. uhhhhh…thanks Aimee but I actually supported CapB before I slammed him. And I did read ScrewBush’s post before I forgot it. This reminds me of the time I put in in Vietnam as a young…
    …nevermind.

  32. the part that must have been edited out of the debate during the “wife question”:
“– My wonderful wife, Theresa, will make a wonderful First Lady because she is all of these wonderful things…(blah, ideer, she’ my dear… blah blah) I love her…Theresa…Theresa…
I can’t say her name enough times because I’m so glad to have her at my side…”
John Kerry for Husband of the Year!

  33. You know, the more I think about it, the sadder sKerry’s reference to his mother is.
I mean, here she was on her death bed and she realized that she’d never instilled the idea of honor nor honesty in her son. So with her last breath does she say “I love you?”, “Take care?”…NO! She tries at the last minute to stress the importance of…INTEGRITY…INTEGRITY…INTEGRITY.
    Sooooooo sad 🙁

  34. Kerry’s comment about the assault weapons ban was interesting. He shared a story about how the cops went into a drug house and a guy with an AK-47 started shooting at them. The only problem is this incident happened LAST YEAR according to Kerry. The ban was still in effect!! I wonder if those criminals knew that? Hmmm…….

  35. Was is up with John Kerry’s inference that abortion is a Constitutional Right? I’m far from a lawyer, but isn’t that case law? My personal feeling is that abortion is, or should be, a totally non-political issue, and I do not consider candidate’s position on that issue (though the partial birth thing has got me feeling squemish). Do I mind that Kerry is pro-choice? Not really. Do I mind that he’s a lawyer who doesn’t know the difference between case law and constitutional law? Oh yeah!

  36. I think both candidates could use a little bit of “integrity, integrity, integrity.”
It’s unfortunate that Kerry is a non-sensical flip-flopper and that Bush claims to be fiscally conservative while he does stuff like No Child Left Behind and the Medicare drug plan. I like Bush’s idea that people who lose their jobs should go back to school, but that implies that people who lose them are undereducated. I don’t know if that’s right. Besides, who’s going to put food on the table for the family if mom and / or dad is in college?
Anyways, I can’t stomach voting for Bush this go around, and there’s no way in hell I’m voting for Kerry, so it looks like it’s going to have to be that libertarian guy Badnarik… Here’s to wasting my vote (though I live in Taxachusetts, so a vote for Bush would be “wasted” too…)
    -Jonathan

  37. Jonathan, Massachusetts will be one of the 50 states voting for Bush in this election. Its a tide that won’t be stemmed.
Also, Kerry lied, or at least implied improperly. His mother died at her home while he was out on the campaign trail in 2002. There’s an obituary out there somewhere. She may have been in the hospital sometime before then, and the last words John heard her say may have been those, but he implied they were her last words as she died. Its not a huge issue, but its sad that he implied a falsehood about the death of his own mother.

  38. Joe,
I don’t think Kerry meant to imply that those were his mother’s last words; only that “integrity, integrity, integrity” was her final say on the issue of his candidacy. Of course, the irony is that he has so little integrity that the whole thing is probably a lie anyway.
