I expose the foolishness of a third part but explain why a fourth party just might work in my new column on Pajamas Media. Read it and be enthralled with my brilliance.

You confused me. When ObamaPocalypse occurs, I will steal your gas.
Without bothering to read your PJM article, I have extrapolated your summarized results. To wit: the ninth party (or so) will be UNSTOPPABLE!
The Fourth Party will quickly be taken over by the Fourth Estate. They will immediately merge with the DimmoCrat Party. Thank You for playing,Game Over.
Third Party candidates satisfy the need to vote for someone other than the disgusting choices Dims & Republicans put on the ballot.
The restrictions that the Monopolistic Two-Party System put on ballot access restricts our voting more than the poll tax, etc…..
I’d be more enthralled with your brilliance Frank, if you didn’t chicken out and vote Republican. Chicken out: Brilliant!
A “Don’t Tread On Me Party” like the idea, plus it sounds more manly than Tea Party. Will it work? Most likely not. I’ll stick with stocking up on supplies to be prepared for the final melt down that will be known as the Obamapocalypse.
If i recall some places like Israel have like a half dozen parties. Once I heard someone I respect insist that a third party would be a bad idea. I couldn’t imagine how until I thought about the raw numbers. With 2 parties anyone that can get 51% of the vote can do whatever they want to the other 49% loosely. With 3 parties that becomes 33% of the vote to be a majority. This would allow the social conservatives or socialist liberals to rule at 34% without any need to even feign interest in the middle. Or in the places where there are many parties of 10-20% they draw temporarily alliances where like socialists with 15% of the vote ally with labor with 15% and can rule the entire government together because all of the other factions are two divided.
Anyway I would like the idea of a new party like how Republicans replaced the Whigs while co-opting most but not all of its leadership. Id like to see an independent America party replace most of Republicans and coop Conservative working class Democrats. But two parties at a time would be better then 3.
In short what I think there are two possible paths.
“Like the NRA” Tea parties become a bit of an interest group and endorsing either an R or D who submit to their agenda.
“Under New Management Scenario” where conservatives and Tea Partiers join together and challenge the Republican leadership for control of the party. Throw some of them out replace and change the name of the party.
See, that’s why I’m rooting for an asteroid.
The only prob with starting a fourth party is than one of us would have to spend a lot of time with liberals without punching them. My head would ‘splode.
Hey! You got linked on Hot Air this morning!
