Mission Accomplished?

Here’s a great article from a vet on how victory in Iraq is going pretty much unnoticed. Is there any chance Obama will have some sort of celebration to mark the occasion? It might actually make him more popular.

Well, in the least, now liberals have new things to say about war. Before, their commentary was pretty much limited to, “This is just like Vietnam!” Now they can also say, “This is just like Iraq!” Which I guess means the war will be really unpopular for a short while, and then people will lose interest, and when we win it pretty much no one will care.

Well, we don’t care. But the Iraqis care. The enemies who wanted to see us defeated care.

Yeah, I don’t think “This war is just like Iraq!” will have quite the same ring to it.

  1. Ok, this is totally unrelated…but just saw where Ted Nugent is running for Governor of Michigan! How frickin’ cool is that! My personal favorite Nugent quote:

“I have busted more hippies’ noses than all the narcs in the free world.”

That may be the coolest quote….EVER.

  2. Reading these articles only serves to infuriate me and to dedicate myself to honoring our fighters with every breath I take. They are the finest people on God’s Earth and I only hope we can demonstrate a hundredth of the bravery they display to serve while the current “people” exercise control.

  3. Our troops are the finest and they deserve every bit of support and prayers we can give them. I belong to a group of 100% volunteers who make cooling ties and other “goodies” and package them and send them over to our troops in the field. We can do the work but the USPS charges us $12.00 package and we send thousands of packages last year. Pepsi is having a contest for a $50,000.00 grant. If we were to win, that would take care of quite a bit of postage for this year. Would everyone who reads this great blog, please go vote for us so we can send more packages?

Also – and this is very important – if you have a family member serving in the mid-East, please go to our website and register them so we can send them a package too:

    Bless you all!

  4. However, “This war is just like Afghanistan!” rings true for Britannia(1839-42)&(1878-80), and USSR(1979-89)
To which the answer is,”I say we nuke it from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.”

  5. My (former Cav Scout ) son will be deaf by the age of thirty five; he probably has traumatic brain injury of some sort. It’s been a rough 2 plus years since he got back. Having said all that, he is back, he is working, he is content. He will always remember Talafar, as I will always remember Khe Sanh. We don’t care what others think,or remember. We were called to DUTY.We discharged that duty with HONOR. We are proud of our COUNTRY, and especially THE HEROS we served with.

RESISTANCE TO TYRANTS IS OBEDIANCE TO GOD

  6. Basil said
“Those that said “this is just like Viet Nam” didn’t remember Viet Nam.

They particularly don’t remember that it was a**holes like themselves that fought against the US here at home. So, in that respect, they were right.”

I remember Sunny Southeast Asia alright. Yuccck. Iwas a combat medic. and very busy. I really don’t know, how you can compare jungle to desert, unless you just want to go with the paranoia (constant looking over the shoulder) or fear (finding some one is there) or the dumb a$$, so called, leaders in charge. At least this group of veterans made it home out of leper status. God bless all of them.
