Glenn Reynolds, blender of puppies, has an interesting idea: Hit Democrats with taxes to teach them that taxes hurt. One idea is to hit Hollywood with special taxes, which seems like a great idea. Nothing is more idiotic than rich, moron actors who earn millions to pretend to be useful people whining about the rich having all this money they didn’t earn. Here’s my own super logical idea for actors and their pay: An actor should always earn less than someone who actually does the occupation he’s pretending to do. Since people who do things are superior to people who pretend to do things, this just seems fair. So if an actor plays a teacher, he has to get less than the average teacher’s pay. And if he plays a soldier, he gets less than the average soldier’s pay. Of course, I bet the consequence of this would be that all the big name actors will only accept roles where they play CEOs or a Romney-type investor, but, hey, this is all about fairness.

Hollywood types are always whining how unfair it is that a CEO makes a lot more than a janitor. Yet a big star will get ten or twenty million for one movie. Meanwhile, the rest of the crew get a few thousand.
But they only get half of the lowest paid extra if their depiction of the CEO/investor is a bad guy.
As I said on my blog this morning, actors should just get minimum wage.
In the name of Fairness™ everyone who works on the film should get the same rate of pay. If an hourly wage, then stars would get less than the others…gaffers are on the set longer than the stars and actually do manual labor so they should get more.
@FormerHostage – and because they work harder they should also get better trailers too rest up in.
god, i wish i had made the money that they make. i really wish i had the equipment they misuse.
@DamCat – and coked up hookers!
well, if we’re going to go down that road…why should actors get to make all that money while everyone else in the production gets so little? Profiting of other people’s boredom is just wrong! We need to create a government-run movie studio that will decide how much actors will be allowed to earn, what kind of movies the people want to see, and make sure that everyone has access to the movies, not just “the rich”. Actors should be in the government payroll, earning government-approved wages that are fair so that other people involved with the movie can make more money too. Why….do you know that if we took just one actor’s $20 million paycheck we could pay everyone else involved with the movie at least double what they get paid now!
How is it fair that 1% of the people involved with the movie get so much of the money. UNFAIR!!!! RACIST!!! HOMOPHOBE!!!!!
Clowns are kind of freaky. They are paid to put on makeup and costumes and perform for the audiences entertainment. The entertainment is usually minimal and has nothing to actually do with real life experiences. We do not take them seriously or as intellectuals. Are circus clowns any different than the Hollywood Elite? Pay them the same as a clown.
I want to get paid a fair wage to have to sit and watch that crap. Oh!… and BEER!
