An idea from Michael Z. Williamson.
To me, lawyers never really fit into a capitalistic society because they don’t make money from their good and services and much as from the government’s ability to use force and impose its whims on people. Should anyone really be getting rich off of the government forcefully making people pay large sums of money?

Lawyers are a byproduct of government, at every level, being needlessly complex and burdensome.
So many laws are written and so many regulations with so many conditions based upon definitions made up by the writers of the law, that the common man, even a highly educated one, cannot possibly understand, or comply with, all of them.
This is how government gets all of its power and control over the public – by passing so many laws that an honest man is afraid that he might be breaking a number of them.
‘Contract law’ would be an exception to your speculation, Frank. No capitalistic society could do without it.
Lawyerssuck is one word…but if I ever need one I want him/her to be one of those ruthless types who’d sue their own widowed grandmother for her last Social Security check.
The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers.
Henry the 6th part 2 act 4 scene 2
I would comment, but I need to consult my lawyer first.
