Listen to Frank

So, I was all making my triumphant return to blogging this week, but I don’t have like any random thoughts today. None. Here, let me try.

Asparagus.

No, that doesn’t really count as a whole thought.

Anywho, I’m on The Dennis Miller Show today, so make sure to listen to that. Does he find me funny? If so, that’s something I could probably put on my resume.

And, as always, buy my book. And tell everyone about it. And write a review.

Oh, and I guess my novel, Superego, is actually out today for buying as a digital copy. I wasn’t ready to start promoting that yet, but it’s pretty awesome and I think everyone is going to enjoy it. More to come.

  1. As far as I know, Frank’s on sometime in the first hour, so hit the site at 12pm Eastern and wait:

    https://www.dennismillerradio.com/site

By the way the “click to listen” button doesn’t actually appear until 12pm, so you’ll have to refresh your browser after 12 if you show up early.

Also, there’s no sound on the stream until 12:06. Don’t let the silence worry you. As long as the clock on the streaming buffer is ticking along, you’re fine.

Oh, and turn your volume down some, because 5 seconds before showtime, there’s a loud 440 cycle warning tone. I’ve been doing this for two years, and it STILL makes me jump every time.

  2. “440 cycle warning tone” = A

Plus, “cycle” is archaic. Only old guys use it, Harvey. The modern term is “Hertz” (Hz.) named after Heinrich Hertz, the great German physicist. We’re just lucky the new term for frequency isn’t “Heinrichs” !

    “Whadda you got?”
    “440 Heinrichs.”

  3. Heh. Before digital television, if you turned your FM radio all the way to the left (87 MHz or so), you could pick up one of the Wilmington TV stations’ audio. Hmm… I wonder if it works on a digital radio and if they’re one of the TV stations that stayed VHF.

  4. @8: You might need a really old FM receiver to check, CCO, as the modern ones all have phase-locked loop tuning.

Hell, who am I kidding. I’m so old, I remember when PLL was brand new and “hot.” No more having to go over and re-tune your radio every five minutes.

  5. Triumphant Return?? Wait. When did Frnak leave? Now, if Frnak wanted to be real kewl he could do his loyal blog visitors a “solid” and give them a “shout out” when he’s on broadcast shows….. He could be all like….”And I just want to do my homies up in da blog hood a solid and holla “SUP” to Jimmy and Damn Cat and that Rodney guy” That would be kewl.
