“We can make sure every person willing to work has the dignity of a job, and a fair wage, and a real voice.” —President Obama #Selma50
“Using a government program that takes those things away from two other people to provide it.”

We can also make sure that those NOT willing to work have a check coming in every month, an EBT card (so they don’t have to lose pride by using food stamps), very low-government subsidized-housing, free cell phones, free internet, free healthcare, and the guarantee that as long as they use their voice to support the democratic party we will be “The Man” in their family.
…and we can make all those things cost more for people who DO work, willing or not.
And we’ll put signs in pharmacies saying if you can’t “afford” the 3 DOLLAR “co-pay” for your medicaid paid prescription, that’s OK, they have to give it to you anyway, complete with a phone number to call if they give you any crap. Oddly, there’s no sign saying that for my $15+ co-pay that I pay on top of my $6000/year insurance. They do however say, oh we can’t fill that one, the insurance won’t pay for it, you have to change it to something else. I kinda doubt any welfare leach ever hears that.
Yes, “willing to work” is clearly the operative phrase — the Obama qualifier.
When not-working pays better than does a $60,000-per-year job, motivation becomes — let’s say — a problem.
I wonder: would Starbucks employees like to have a conversation about welfare with the EBT customers buying Starbucks coffee?

There used to be a name for people unwilling to work: dead.
uh oh… someone forgot to delete the “willing to work” from the speech. Someone’s head will roll.
But, c64wood, for those unwilling to work, come on down! They’ve got $56K of government entitlements waiting for ’em, and that ain’t bad.
“Wallets up! let’s loot!”
@1. I dunno….when someone at the grocery store pulls out an EBT card people still roll their eyes.
