As we head into the last days before Mystery Science Theater 3000 returns, let’s take some time and think about the older series. There were 199 episodes, counting the KTMA season and the movie, but not the pilot/promo. But, for our purposes, we’ll not count the pilot/promo nor the KTMA season, okay?
So, here’s today’s question: What was your favorite episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000?
Mine may be The Final Sacrifice. There are lots I just flat out enjoy, but this one is just, oh, I don’t know, it’s a favorite of mine. What’s your favorite?

I’d say mine is a tossup between “Hamlet” and “The Screaming Skull.”
The Sword and the Dragon
“I’m the summer wind…”
The Final Sacrifice had the magnificent Canada song, but I did enjoy The Screaming Skull as well. I also liked The Crawling Eye, but mainly because I loved that movie when I was a kid. Spider Island is also a hoot.
The one where all the robots scream “E T E R M I N A T E !”
I think you’re thinking of The Young Ones. Don’t worry. It’s an easy mistake to make.
It was a deliberate mistake – confusing Dr. Who with MST3K. I only watch MST3K to see what really bad (but good-bad) movies I’ve missed over the years and would like to actually watch when I’m in the mood for really bad SciFi.
If you want Doctor Who and MST3K together, stay tuned!
Mine was a deliberate mistaken absurd correction but clearly not as funny as I’d hoped it would be.
It was funny. I suspect not as many know The Young Ones.
“The Day The Earth Froze”
This wasn’t the only Scandinavian movie they played but it was my favorite.
Second on the list would have to be “The Giant Leeches”. Mostly for the coffee and muffins. I won’t spoil if if you haven’t seen it.
Mine has to be the Home Economics Story it’s a short that was filmed at Iowa state I lived in the dorms their in the early 90’s and every room still looked the same.
That episode would be “The Saga of the Viking Women and Their Voyage to the Waters of the Great Sea Serpent.”
The short is one of my favorites.
We’ll have a discussion of shorts later in the week.
“Beginning of the End”. Giant atomic grasshoppers. Oh, my!
You just want to play with the grasshoppers, don’t you…
I have 3, Cave Dwellers, Pod People and I Accuse My Parents.
My favorite is “Invasion of the Neptune Men”, although several others have listed have come quite close to displacing it from that vaunted #1 position.
One of my favorites is The Painted Hills, featuring Lassie/Shep, Snausages, and dog revenge.
A couple of favorite moments that make me giggle just to think about them, from Fugitive Alien, “He tried to kill me with a forklift!”

And the opening scene from Gunslinger, “Cue the horses” followed by a cluck at director Roger Corman.

For me it’s Manos the Hands of Fate. Who can forget the haunting Torgo theme, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0s9OC6rzAA the devil dog, the all female fight scene or these famous last words as the movie concludes…”I am Michael, I take care of the place while the master is away.” Truly this movie had to of been made with MST3K in mind. I’m also a great fan of The Prince of Space, haw…haw…haw.
Pod People
I could not stop laughing. Probably not coincidental it was the first one I saw when a friend introduced me to the show. It left a great imprint, and I keep laughing no matter how many times I see it. I also always tear up at the end with the goodbye song.
I didn’t realize it was even a question, Gamera of course.

The Young Ones was hilarious. I wish they’d bring it back.
