James Prescott Joule, the physicist whose work paved the way for the field of thermodynamics was born December 24, 1818, in Salford, England, near Manchester. His name is preserved in the word that physicists use for a unit of work – the joule.

Agreed. Nat King Cole is the tops. He even beats Mel Torme who is tough to best on any song and that goes double for this one that he wrote himself.
