Wednesday Night Open Thread

Were you a fan of Breaking Bad? I enjoyed the show. And the music in the show. The finale was a great ending. Not a happy one, but the right one. And I thought it was clever how they named the finale “Felina” after the song they played (a small but relevant part of it anyway) to open the show.

  1. Marty Robbins was the first singer I ever saw at a live show; my parents took us to see him two years running. We also had all of his albums (I still have Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs), and I still listen to him every day.

Breaking Bad also had a song by The Limelighters, I remember. Another great band from the early ’60s.

  2. W. Somerset Maugham, the author of, inter alia, the novels Of Human Bondage, Cakes and Ale, The Moon and Sixpence, and the great stories Rain and The Outstation, was born in January 25, 1874, in Paris. And, no, Of Human Bondage is not bondage.

  3. Loved Breaking Bad. And I have to say I was really worried about how the last episode was going to go, because there were a million ways to do the ending wrong, and only a handful ways to do it right.

After I watched the final episode, I distinctly remember thinking “that was fair,” and I didn’t feel in any way cheated.

    Unlike Battlestar Galactica.

  4. Oprah is an alien! Once asked about running for the Presidency she said, “I don’t have the DNA for it.” Huh? Last I look you only had to be American and over 35 to run, how is DNA important…unless you were born on another planet. So I’m not saying she is an Alien… but she’s an Alien.
