However, if you enjoy modern medical drama shows, you should find this interesting. I did, and I’ve only ever really watched Scrubs and House.

Been in healthcare for 40+ years. NO TV show depicts the realities of hospital based care realistically. Even the ones ostensibly based on real life such as “Untold Stories Of The ER” get a lot of it wrong. The ONLY shows that even come close are the ones filmed in REAL ER’s during REAL activities….and even those are edited to remove the “boring” stuff which is MOST of what happens. Ask the average person and they’ll tell you that all those test results magically appear or are obtained by the doctors themselves. Aside from nurses you almost never see the countless highly educated and experienced technical specialists that perform the lab tests on blood etc. or do the x-rays, CT’s etc. without which doctors simply CANNOT FUNCTION. Over the years I have on more than one occasion had to tell an ER doc or a surgeon that the CT Scanner was ‘down’…it needs a part and won’t be fixed till tomorrow at the earliest. The look of sheer panic in their eyes is amazing. It’s the same kind of look you get when you tell a 4 year old that Santa got hit by a bus and Christmas is cancelled. Yes….these shows are low grade entertainment at best. Certainly not even close to reality.
My sister is a doctor. she said the stuff on shows are fake.but the nurses gossip is real
I’m available to do one of these for aviation movies any ol’ time…. Jes sayin’
If you send me a list of aviation cliches and your responses to harvolson@gmail.com, I will post it.
I stopped watching medical drama shows after ‘ER’ went off the air-I loved that show! Many people told me I looked like Anthony Edwards.
