In the bank, or in real estate, or in other possessions? No, I don’t really own those, either: the government does. If I don’t pay them an amount of tax that they decide on each year, they repossess them.
It said that the average wealth per person was 56,000.
‘Course, that ain’t the way it’s divvied up, but that’s what it averages out to.
But suppose every man, women and child woke up with $56,000 worth of whatever their local currency was. (no more, no less)
How long do you figure it would take before those who had it before had it again, and the poor ended up just as poor as before (or dead)?
@5 – 4of7 – My serious answer: about 2 years. The first year to create money-making plans and start implementing them; the second year they’ll be up & running and just need fine-tuning.
#7 – walruskkkch,
It would have to be tax-free.
The governments of the world wouldn’t have any more money than anyone else, so they couldn’t afford to pay the tax collectors.

In cash? No, I don’t have that on me.

Definitely no later than year 3.
That’s 56,000 tax-free, right?
Dammit anyway! I’m only up to $3,635

#6 – Harvey,
Yep, that’s about what I figured.
