Some folks are upset that the Flight 93 memorial “Crescent of Embrace” resembles an Islamic crescent.
Me, I’m ok with making a point of reminding people exactly what religion those murdering terrorists s***bags thought justified their actions.
And if it’s true that it’s oriented toward Mecca, then it’s also handy for showing which way to aim our ICBM’s.

That is a bit disturbing, even with your justification.
You have to realize that many architects are just hippies that either missed the 60s, or were there, but decided that capitalism really did work…
Of course, there is also the thought that it now looks like a target…..
Disregarding whether or not there is some odd reference to Islam implied, the whole idea of a ‘crescent of embrace’ to remember an attack seems so pathetically new age. How about a dagger of retribution instead? That’s something I could get behind.
But Harvey, how COULD they have attacked us…isn’t Islam a religion of PEACE??? We all know (just ask Laurence) that it was a Jewish conspiracy.
“isn’t Islam a religion of PEACE???”
No, that was a misinterpretation of the original documents: what it really said was “Islam is a religion of PIECE.”
But then it could be that some butthead commie bastage is foisting his religion on us. Call the ACLU! Oh, sorry. They are the commies.
The question is, do we want to remember the bastards that caused the crash, or the sacrifice of the passengers who saved so many more lives by trying to regain control of the plane?
I like Scrappleface’s idea about how the still standing White House and Capitol Buildings are a fitting memorial of the sacrifice of those passengers.
I’ll admit that “f***ing muslim bastards” would be a better name for the memorial, but I don’t have a problem with the design.
Looking at it makes me angry at the terrorists – which is a good thing – so I like it.
And you think no one has been killed in the name of YOUR god? Not only chickenhawks but hypocrits as well.
Since we don’t resonably judge Christianity by what Judas did, we probably ought to weigh this hatred of all Muslims a bit more carefully. I understand the feelings – I have to fight them daily – but, we run the risk of becoming like the terrorists if we let our feelings rule! It is fine to respond to the radical Islamists with negativity, but too early to use the shotgun approach!
Judas wasnt a Christian. I believe he was a Jew. Christianity didnt come about until some years after Jesus left the scene. And we don’t reasonably judge Judaism by what Judas did.
mnib – No one has ever been killed in the name of my God, because I’m an atheist 😛
Oh, and a veteran, too.
swoops down, eats chicken
DL – I’m not shotgunning. I specifically said “f***ing muslim bastards”. Assuming peaceful muslims exist, I’m not talking about them.
However, point taken, and I apologize for the confusion.
I probably should’ve said “f***ing Islamofascist terrorist muslim bastards”.
Communism – wow, there’s a word I haven’t heard in a long time. Has it become a four-letter word? Remember the theory of “six degrees of separation”? ( http://aries.mos.org/sixdegrees ) I’d bet that lefties and commies are only separated by one or less.
Two wrongs don’t make a right. You can’t excuse what the terrorists do by pointing to the Spanish Inquisition or the Crusades or whatever lame example you want to point to. Bottom line is that the Bible doesn’t teach any of that. Only what man (oh, and women) pervert of the Gospel of Jesus brings about man’s inhumanity to man. Follow the Bible and you don’t hate. You love your enemy. Follow the Bible and you don’t blow up yourself and others around you. The mockers might say, “What would Jusus do?” My answer is that I don’t know for sure but I do know what God did to Sodom and Gomorrah and He is much better at blowing things away than we are.
To Mninb and is this: Christianity is a relationship with a loving Savior. Believe it or not. That is a choice you make. Don’t put it off onto “hypocrites”. They are everywhere.
People always forget the bad parts of the Bible…I mean, isn’t in there somewhere “The Lord spoke, ‘And lo, for I have made you in mine own image, so any who look unlike you are not my children. Kill them.'” ?
The only thing that keeps my “nuke ’em all ” angel quiet is the possibility of reform. The good stuff happening in Afghanistan and Iraq placate him and make me believe there’s hope of not needing to extinctify a whole people.
If it doesn’t work out, the last barrier to full-scale baying for islamic blood will be down.
