My brother, Lt. Joe foo’ the Marine, has headed off to Iraq once again today. Please keep him in your prayers.
BTW, I heard on his flight the Marines were able to keep their guns with them, but they weren’t allowed to bring any knives aboard. I guess that makes sense.

God bless Joe Foo’ and all of our fighting forces. They are making a difference that even the Dems can’t overlook or mislead about (not an easy thing). Sending one up for your bro’.
Oh, Marines would never bring a knife to a gun fight!
I hope he has fun fightin’ them hajis. God Bless and good luck to Joe Foo’ and all of his unit. I wonder if they could take ammo for their weapons?
Thank him from all of us. And G-d bless him.
God bless.
I pray that God will deliver him several terrorists ready to be shot in the face. Amen.
Score some for America!
“but they weren’t allowed to bring any knives aboard.”
Really? There has to be a reason for that which I’m just not thinking of, right?
God bless, Joe and co.
You have my prayers and best wishes!
To Joe, you and all the guys you serve with.
Good luck, good hunting, and thank you.
God Bless and keep you safe Joe. Please keep us up to date with Lt Joe!!! Thank you for your service. I think your parents raised some really great kids!!! Hug them for us!
He wasn’t allowed to bring more than two batteries either I’m guessing
I will certainly keep him in my prayers.
God bless him. My cousin is in Baghdad on his second tour right now.
Done. Thank you Joe Foo, and all those who think about you daily.
I bet they couldn’t bring nail clippers, either.
Almighty Father, whose command is over all and whose love never fails, make me aware of Thy presence and obedient to Thy will. Keep me true to my best self, guarding me against dishonesty in purpose and deed and helping me to live so that I can face my fellow Marines, my loved ones, and Thee without shame or fear. Protect my family.
Give me the will to do the work of a Marine and to accept my share of responsibilities with vigor and enthusiasm. Grant me the courage to be proficient in my daily performance. Keep me loyal and faithful to my superiors and to the duties my Country and the Marine Corps have entrusted to me. Help me to wear my uniform with dignity, and let it remind me daily of the traditions which I must uphold.
If I am inclined to doubt, steady my faith; if I am tempted, make me strong to resist; if I should miss the mark, give me courage to try again.
Guide me with the light of truth and grant me wisdom by which I may understand the answer to my prayer.
Good Luck Lieutenant!
Is it true that the Marines are thinking of changing their name to “Freds”?
Good luck and Godspeed!
A Marine doesn’t need a knife, all he needs is his bare hands.
God bless him, keep him safe, and grant success in his mission.
That’s because the only thing more dangerous than a Marine with a rifle, is a Marine without ammo and a knife. And, worse than that, half those knives are bayonets.
Godspeed Marines, and come back as you went.
May the Creator bestow blessings upon the Lieutenant and his family.
And may the Lieutenant return from war and have many children so that his courage will be passed on to the next generation of Americans.
“the only thing more dangerous than a Marine with a rifle, is a Marine without ammo and a knife.”
How about a Lt. with a map, isn’t that the most dangerous? I kid because Lt. Foo is a Marine and my brother was Army. Anyway may G-d Bless Lt. Foo.
Lt. please keep your head down, your chin up and watch your six.
Semper Fi Marine!
Thanks for the thoughts. BTW, I do have a knife (or two or three!), but they were in the seabags under the plane, not in the plane cabin itself…I know its stupid, but its the rules. I have arrived safely in Kuwait after 20 or so hours of flight and stops (with a Guiness or two in Ireland!) and awaiting travel into Iraq.
Lt. Joe F.
SYSCON watch officer
(IT manager with a gun)
Glad to hear you made it safely as far as Kuwait, Lt. Joe F! Continue your safe travels!
Those poor Marines, never to know the thrill of a monkey knife fight in international airspace at 35,000 feet.
Oh well.
God bless!
Get ’em, Joe!
I will pray for your brother, just as I pray for my own, who is in Baghdad.
Same thing when I went over two years ago. We carried our guns, but no knives — and don’t forget those dangerous Bic lighters! Had to throw those out, too.
“Oh, Marines would never bring a knife to a gun fight!”
I assumed they’d bring a gun, and a knife, and a sidearm, and possibly a few other weapons just to make sure he doesn’t run out of things to kill people with. “Always prepared” and all that, right?
When I went to Iraq with my battalion of Marines, we carried knives and guns onto the plane. We got off at Shannon, Ireland for a layover and wandered about the airport and especially the bar there for some Guinness.
The rule makes sense. You can’t really carry a weapon out of the plane too easily, but most of the Marines were carrying quite large knives through the terminal. This was a regular public air terminal. It makes sense to put the knives below for that reason.
Best wishes to Foo. That was my fathers nickname as well. It was said that he looked like Fu Manchu. He served in WWII in the 101st Abn. I served in the 101st Abn in Vietnam. I can’t tell you how proud the current crop of soldiers and marines makes me to be an American. It is people like Lt. Foo that make America the most respected nation in the world.
Thank you
