Whatever it is, I’m against it

Conservatives — okay, actually Republicans — are being painted as “The Party Of ‘No.'”

And, Republicans seem to want to respond to that charge.

Now, maybe it’s because I’m not a Republican (I’m not a member of any party — I am a conservative), but the tag doesn’t bother me.

Obama and his Congress have done lots of damage. And it needs to stop. So, I’m willing to embrace the “Party of ‘No'” moniker.

Look at it like this: You’re taking a trip. Someone else is driving. They’re doing a piss-poor job of driving. And they’re going in the wrong direction. At a high rate of speed.

What do you do?

Well, you don’t grab the steering wheel and suddenly turn it to the right. You stop the car. You remove the incompetent driver. You take the wheel (or get someone capable behind the wheel). Then you move in the right direction at the right speed.

That pretty much sums up what we need to do with the presidency and the Congress. Stop things. Put someone capable in charge. Then proceed.

We’re at the “stop” point of the strategy right now. So, yes, I’m all for stopping things. Stopping things cold.

And, until we have things stopped, and until we have the right people in charge, whatever Congress tries to do, I’m against it.

  1. I’m OK with the “Party of NO”. As a parent some of the most important decisions I’ve made were when I answered no. No you can’t play in the street, no you can’t go to that party, no you can’t date until you’re sixteen, no you can’t date that girl or boy, no you can’t wear that outfit outside of the house (What street corner were you going for exactly? – my mothers comment when she thought something was out of bounds), no you can’t have an I Phone, a computer, a game cube et al.

Good parents know that NO is not a bad word, it can sometimes be the most loving word you will ever utter. To say no means that you love them, care for them, treasure them and don’t want bad things to happen to them. It also means that they need to learn to live within their means, to delay gratification, to do without, which are all important ideals that will serve them well in their lives.

So I can handle the “Party of NO”. Especially if it means that the people in Congress get the picture, we’re done playing games, they need to cowboy up, grow a pair or get out. Obviously some in the Yes party have decided that they don’t want to grow up and are leaving. Don’t let the screen door hit you on the way out,. Don’t go away mad, just go away. Thanks.

  2. The Democrats using that moniker? How ironic. They’ve been the party of “No you can’t, blacky” from the Civil War to Jim Crow to the present day.

The only difference I see is that Nathan Forrest wasn’t a socialist.

  3. I was just reading the “Lion in the Whitehouse” and it stated that the Congress was out of session from December through March in 1832. That is what we need today. The less the Professional politicians are in session the fewer asinine Laws they can pass. Here in the Great State of Texas, our Legislature meets every two Years for 120 Day and therfore allows them less time to screw things up by trying to justify thier existnece by making new obnoxious laws that restrict our Freedoms. Plus we don’t pay them diddly squat, primarily because they don’t deserve it. Go to the Captiol, do what needs to be done and go home and make an honest living!

  4. Government is never the solution, and almost always the problem, so why would any right thinking individual expect that the government “doing something” would make things better? It’s time to not only be the party of “no”, but the party of and let’s undo the nonsense previous Congresses have done as well in power grabs and social programs that are not permitted by the Constitution.
