So Biden told the Democrat base to “stop whining”. Isn’t that like telling a football team to stop passing? I mean, that’s like half their play book. Whine about tea parties, whine about Glenn Beck, whine about Palin, whine about how Obama needs to be more liberal… without whining, about all they have left is impotent rage, and that’s even worse. And what’s Biden going to tell the base next? Stop having disdain for the average American? Don’t freak out if people feel passionately about different viewpoints than your own? Soon all the Democrat base will have nothing left but to sit quietly in their basements — which would actually be a huge help to the electability of Democrat politicians but is probably an unrealistic expectation.
The problem the Democrats have had is that while they want their base to vote and donate money, those people hugely creep out Americans at large. If more Americans actually checked out the Daily Kos and realized this is who Democrat politicians suck up to, they’d be completely done with them. So Democrats need to keep the base happy while completely ignoring them and doing their best to make sure no one hears what they say. Here’s an idea: Democrats can just take the policy ideas of their base and implement them in 2nd Life and then try to convince their base that’s the real world. They’ve believed much dumber things.

In this day and age of expansive playbook, the Democrats run a few simple plays. This is reminiscent of legendary coaches like Vince Lombardi, Woody Hayes, Bo Schembechler, and William Jennings Bryan. They believe that executing these few plays extremely well gives them a decisive advantage. Below I will detail two of their running plays (Almost all Democrat plays are run out of the standard I-formation).
1 – Triple option. The center (Barney Frank) snaps the talking point – usually “Blame Bush” – to the quarterback (Barack Obama). Obama, of course, has three options. He can let fullback Pelosi, uh, go right, uh, up the middle behind Barney Frank, he can keep the point himself, or he can run down the line and pitch the talking point to star tailback David Axelrod. This is very difficult to defend if you’re an undisciplined Republican congressman.
2 – Zone stretch of the truth. Again, Frank snaps the ball to Obama. The offensive line – Sheehan, Maher, Frank, Grayson, and Byrd – executes a complex form of blocking called “zone blocking”. They push the defensive line sideways, hopefully opening up huge running lanes for tailback Axelrod. This play takes advantage of Axelrod’s ability to bend the truth in all directions. The Republican linebackers become hopelessly confused, and the secondary – the American people – are all too willing to “bite” on quarterback Obama’s faking the pass.
So Biden told the Democrat base to “stop whining”.

It contributes to their sense of self righteousness, and smug moral superiority by which they justify their right to tell the rest of us how to live our lives. When you absolutely, positively, know you are superior to everyone else then it follows…you have a duty to whine…and lets face Dems are very good at carrying out their whining duties. Whining, it’s in their blood, it’s what they do, and all of Biden’s whining won’t change that fact.
