Random Thoughts

Didn’t really have “thoughts”, per se. Either I’ve been less random or just thinking less.

So did unions prove themselves relevant in Wisconsin over the night? How about rotary phones?

  1. Nope. The Republicans retain control of the Wisconsin senate, Frank. I’m hoping Harvey writes-up something about it.

The Washington Examiner said this of the two seats the Democrats won:

One of the seats was solidly Democratic, held by a Republican due to an apparent fluke of nature. The other was held by an alleged adulterer who had moved outside his district to live with his young mistress, and whose wife was supporting his recall.

So, unions are proving to be about as relevant as rotary phones – okay, maybe dialup modems.

  2. The national union thug backed, run away when we don’t get our way, Wisconsin democrats spent nearly as much in one month in six state legislative recall races (18% of the state) as Scott Walker spent in a year on a state-wide race for governor. For all that, they won over two RINO seats which gets them … wait for it … a minority in the legislature! We’re still in charge, we’re redistricting, and in about a month, two of their seats are up for recall.

We’ve already balanced our budget to the point we have a surplus, passed a concealed carry law, passed a voter ID law, and repealed wasteful democrat programs like tuition for illegal immigrants, tax money for abortions, and higher mandatory auto insurace minimums.

And, its almost Football season again. GO PACKERS!

  3. coldguy…Go Packers? Yea, whatever!!! Until they meet my mighty Vikings on the grid iron and we bring the pain! Wait till Tavaris Jack…oh no!!! Do you guys have a quarterback that we can borrow for the season. We are a bit short in that area? But other than that we are really really good!!! Really! really… OK…WE SUCK!!! I’m rooting for the Packers and then the Patriots because the Vikings aren’t smart enough to go draft a damn Quarterback. We haven’t drafted a Quarterback for the last 4 or 5 years that’s worth squat because TJack was Childress’s guy…why…because Chili didn’t know anything about Offense!!! WE SUCK SO BAD the Lions are going to run us over this year!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

  4. Things that are more useful than unions (and most Dems):

    -bicycles for bluefin tuna

    -shoes for snakes

    -a telephone for Helen Keller

-an amphibious vehicle in the Sahara

-hiking boots in the Great Barrier Reef

    -The New York Yankees

-The New York Jerks… I mean Jets

(Okay, so the last two are less useful than unions. My mistake)

  5. Hey, DamnCat, I think you forgot one more similarity:

    – Neither rotary phones nor unions cannot be killed

You could use a rotary phone for 30 years, toss it in the garbage, have it run through the garbage truck compacterator, spend 15 years in a landfill, and I bet when you pulled it out, it would still work. It’s kinda like unions. No amount of killing makes them die.

  6. I’m trying to think less lately too; because the more I think about the Us credit rating, economy, and Obama, the more I want to punch the driver of car I see with an Obama Biden sticker.

  7. I think there’s only one thing the Brits can do about their riot problems. It’s obvious their police are either unwilling or unable to stop the rioting. Lets face it; three days in and the British cops are still contemplating the use or non-use of rubber bullets? It’s obvious the Brits are going to have to go outside of their country to find an answer. Therefore I suggest they contract with a good old middle east despot to get the job done properly. Obviously Saddam Hussein and Hosni Mubarak are out, and Britain is currently at war with Miramar Kaddafi (so they can get his oil at discount prices) so he’s out too. So…the obvious candidate is Hafez Assad. Assad has a veteran thug police force that has a proven record when it comes to dealing with dissidents, whiners, snivelers, and rioters. The Brits should contract with Assad for a couple of thousand or so of his thug-police to deal with the rioters and British riot problems would be cleaned up in about an hour or two. Problem solved.

  8. @Burmashave
“…unions. No amount of killing makes them die.”

Tell it to PATCO…wait – you can’t. True though, it took the likes of Ronald Regan to kill them – and we’re not likely to see his ilk soon.

  9. The unions claim they’re looking out for middleclass Americans. Perhaps in some cases they are, but I think what they forgot in WI is that it was mostly middleclass taxpayers who were paying for the exorbitant bennies and retirement programs of the greedy public employee unions. So why would those same middleclass taxpayers vote to recall the people who stopped the public employee unions in their tracks? You’re right Frank…thirty million dollars wasted.

  10. “The unions claim they’re looking out for middleclass Americans.”

Well duh, zzyzx. Of course they are! Unions are responsible for a huge amount of the state of CA budget, and look how low the tax burden is there.

  11. Hi Carolyn my name is zzyzx and I’m a Californian. (Everyone say hi zzyzx.) I was born and raised in California, but fortunately for me I was able to escape to Alaska back in the seventies before the place went completely to hell. Thirty-six years and I’m still clean, sober, and tax free.

  12. Ever done a Trade Show in Chicago? Bring lots and lots of $100.00 bills if you want to get anything done with your booth! Like even changing a light bulb is a Union bit! I had to bribe guys to setup my booth and tear it down with hundreds or I’d still be sitting in McCormick and that was in 1990!!! Yea…unions pretty much suck!

  13. Tell the British Rugby and Soccer Hooligans that if the riots don’t stop, their favorite teams matches will be cancelled.
The police can come in later with their water cannons – to wash the blood from the streets.
