lolterizt! Part 143

This week terrorists, next week That One. Submit for either at lolterizt@gmail.com

Meanwhile, pass ’em around, spread the love, and if you make your own, don’t be shy about dropping a link to your pics in the comments. The more, the merrier.

NOTE TO READERS: Hovering your mouse over the picture activates closed captioning for the l33t-speak/txtmsg impaired.

Pipe up in the comments.

PRODUCTION NOTES:
#1: When creating lolterizt! pictures, please caption with either black or white text, as colors like red and yellow tend to blur badly when I compress the images.

#2: Standard image size for these posts is 350px wide by whatever high. If you can have your images 350px wide before you caption them, I won’t end up shrinking your captions into illegibility when I re-size the images.

MAKE YOUR OWN: The free lolbuilder from I Can Has Cheezburger.

STYLE NOTE: Short captions are usually better. Your goal is 10 words or less, with humor value tending to increase exponentially as the number of words approaches 1.

HAT TIP: Brian of Snapped Shot‘s magnificent EvilFeed – the world’s best source for ripe-for-captioning terrorist photos.

Send your submissions to lolterizt@gmail.com and – if they aren’t obscene (IMAO is a PG-13 site) and don’t suck too terribly bad – I’ll post them for you. Remember to include your name (and blog URL, if applicable) so I know who to thank.

  1. Personally I’m torn between Basil & Les.

Basil, because his reference is just a few seconds long, but it’s in one of the more classic Warner Brothers cartoons.

Les, because although his reference encompasses the entire cartoon, it’s in a Hanna-Barbera release, in the Quick Draw franchise, which I’ve always considered pretty fringe.

The other two, I actually knew, but they aren’t necessarily mainstream.

    Tough call.

  2. Obscure? What obscure? I vote zero obscurity. Shame on you culturally deprived kids.
Limb Kadiddlehopper had a Skelton in his closet.
Daffy Duck was ‘drawn’ into an air guitar scene in Duck Amuck.
Who joo calleeng obscure, QueekStraw? KaBonggggg!
And Bill Monroe wailed about skinnin floppy eared critters 50 years afore Merle did.

  3. I haven’t thought about any of those obscure references in 30 years, but they all came instantly to my mind the second I saw them. (ain’t memory a wonderful thing?)
I like Clem Kaddilhopper best, so I vote for Larsinkima.

  4. I got El Kabong right away! Oh…that was mine.

Speaking of MST3K and obscure references, I have the dubious distinction of getting 3rd place in a RiffTrax contest, not long after the site got started. I think there are two or three of my lines in the Matrix RiffTrak, in the first Oracle scene.

  5. Yeah. Leaning toward El Kabong. The source material has been obscured for those without Boomarang yet refs to it abide. (Episode of The Critic and other cartoons, stand up comedy routines, etc.)

I liked the “Duck Amuck” ref, but Basil would’ve had me at Roy Orbision or maybe the less notorious Bing Bell. I prolly would’ve been the only one to get it, though, which is why I’m not a bellweather for this sort of thing….

Meanwhile, I have “Ridin’ Jihad Out” stuck in my head….

  6. Apostic – the Bing Bell reference would’ve been a contender, and if you’d given me that link, I probably would’ve used your submission. Wow. A TV movie from 1972. The cast wasn’t exactly nobodies, either.

Crusty – It shouldn’t make you feel THAT old, they’re actually still touring. Saw ’em last year. Still sounding pretty good, too. And they had another studio album out a couple years back. I put the reference link in because the internet is forever, and people in the year 3000 might not know who REO is.

  7. My vote is for Larsinkima for “Limb Kadiddlehopper”. They don’t even have Red’s shows in reruns anymore. 🙁 My kids would get it but that’s because I made them watch some of the show I found on dvd’s and they will actually quote lines from the shows. Disclaimer: Red Skelton is my #1 favorite comedian of all time.

El Kabong would be my second choice for obscure reference.
