A new survey shows that 23% of small business owners have gone more than a year without pay.
I’m guessing Obama’s spin will be “They’re doing just fine – they’re still making the same as they did a year ago.”

I celebrated 1 weekend without work and it sucked.
Instead of 2 12 hours shifts at $12/hour, I worked 10 hours total at $9/hour (filling in where needed).
And someone stole my lawnmower.
Maybe It’s time to go with plan B and buy some goats.
Sometime, we small business owners are lucky to net $10/hour. At other times… well, let’s just say it’s ‘lucrative.’ 🙂
The comments for the original article at Fox are closed. I wonder why?
Can I be totally off topic here? HA! You can’t stop me now. Is it just me, or is today’s news a target rich environment:

* Biased media is hamstringing Obama. Bias reaching epic proportions. (HuffPo)

By the way, one of my favorite quotations from President George W. Bush was — in reference to Laura and her career as a teacher — “I married up.” You could tell that he meant it.
Just FYI, the Fox News / Breitbart “source” you have linked to took a large portion of the report out of context. The original headline was “Percentage of U.S. Small Business Owners Reporting Positive Business Conditions Nearly Doubles Since 2010”.
“Specifically, 80% of small business owners believe their employees appreciate the sacrifices they made to keep their businesses operating. Demonstrating true commitment, employees showed thanks by their own investment in the success of the company:
— More than one-third (38%) of owners say their employees worked additional hours without pay;
— Another 18% credit their employees with voluntarily missed or delayed paychecks.
To show their own appreciation of employees, small business owners offer additional time off (78%), a bonus (74%) or a raise (70%).
Customers, too, appreciate the stress and sacrifice of running a company. Almost seven in ten (69%) survey respondents say their customers recognize and appreciate their sacrifices. Even more (87%) say they have been thanked by customers.”

Ed – I believe you, but that link is only there to show people where I got the information for my first line. I do not vouch for its veracity. Only its existence.
Since I’m an internet humorist and not a journalist, I don’t feel obligated to fact check my sources, only to cite them for reference so that others may, if they so choose.
I have no problem with your honest criticism. I just wanted to clarify my position on the principle of the matter.
Went to Walmart and bought a new mower.
It was marked down 25% so I paid only $107 for it. (cheaper than buying a goat).
Hooray for mega-stores!
I mowed my whole lawn with the gas that was already in the tank (I always had to refuel my old mower before the job was done).
Hooray for Briggs & Stratton!
I’m glad they stole the old one now (but I still hope that when the thief got it home, his mother crawled out from under the porch and bit him on the leg)!
