Easter – You’re Doing It Wrong

Google has this image on their site on Easter Sunday:

Springeraz [High Praise!] sent me the following commentary, for which you may baconize him in the comments:
_______________

Google: /gu-gehl/ V. The act of ignoring a major event (as a birthday, holiday) and substituting another, lesser event as a means of denigrating the significance of the more important event… “he googled the miracle of Christ’s resurrection by replacing it with an observance of the birthday of some guy who started a farm workers union.” Also, the resultant state of dishonor that applies to the googl-er after having so googl-ed… “he made a complete google of himself”. Adj. The state of being politically manipulated, as: The facts surrounding the Presidents “sequester” were completely googled by the media. N. Any statement or act that incorporates the act of googl-ing. These forms are commonly combined in colloquial usage, as… “if we don’t stop googling around with the simple truth, the country will be so googled up we won’t recognize it.” or… “Google these googling progressive google holes, Somebody please start a googling revolution. I mean, what the google.”

  1. As I have already posted elsewhere:

The Chavez is my shepherd. I shall not want.

He leadeth me to strike for my brother’s sake.

He maketh me lie down on the job if I’m not getting the minumum wage.

Lo, though I stand the picket line of death, I shall fear no scabs, for he art lawyered.

He prepareth a wage table in the presence of my employers. He appointest a head for toil.

Surely unemployment and croneyism will dog me all the days of my working life, and I shall pay union dues forever.

Praise be to Google for reminding us of the important things–just maybe not in the way they’d intended.

  2. Thank you, Harvey. As part of my celebration of this great day, I’m switching my browsers to default to Bing.

He is risen! And no, I am not talking about Cesar Chavez. Or Hugo either, for that matter.

  3. This is among the many reasons I don’t use Google any more – for anything.

Hey! I saw a bunny this morning carrying a basket full of eggs!

No bacon for Springeraz. Just bunnies and Easter eggs. Okay, bacon on the side with fried potatoes and scrambled eggs with cheese.

Speaking of potatoes… 🙂 Mine are in! Woo hoo!

  4. I also switched my homepage to Bing, which had a lovely collection of Eastern European Easter eggs. They may be socialists at Microsoft, but they don’t rub it in my face.

Hey — why do all these socialists have more money than I do? Why won’t they give me their money?
