[High Praise! to Hope n’ Change Cartoons]
HHS Secretary Kathleen Sibelius finds herself in the increasingly blazing spotlight, being forced to put on a smiley face about the healthcare disaster she is directly responsible for. But General Sibelius isn’t standing down (as many are now calling for). Rather, she’s proclaimed “I called on the contractor to get its A-team here and give us 150%.”
In other words, she’s demanding 50% more from her people than is logically, humanly, or mathematically possible. Which makes Hope n’ Change wonder – how many of the other components of Obamacare are required to function at 150%, 500%, or a trillion-jillion% over what is actually possible?
I for one hope that Kathleen Sibelius is not fired or forced to step down. Just as British intelligence in 1944 figured out that it was better not to assassinate Hitler because his decisions were doing irreparable harm to the German war effort so to have her decisions helped to contribute to the disastrous roll out of Obama care. Therefor I hope she is not relieved of her duties and that she stays on the job right up to the bitter end in the hope that she continues to make the kind of decisions that will drive Obama Care to the early demise it so justly deserves.
…and WHY is the website being built by contractors? So that Sebelius’ department doesn’t have to deal with providing those people health insurance.
General Sibelius added “I’m convinced that with this 150% effort we can drive the cost of health care down 163%.”

To be fair, Sebelius (her name is not spelled the same way as the composer’s) is simply echoing a whole lot of athletic coaches. I still have a vivid memory of a pep rally at my high school during which one of the assistant football coaches (a man who had, among other things, won the Heisman trophy in 1953) told the entire student body that “it’s not giving 100% that wins games; it’s giving 110%.” I don’t know whether coaches still talk like that, but they talked like that a lot in the 1960s.

well, people did a lot of stupid things in the 60’s. Many of those things, we’re still paying for today. I guess that’s what you get with tenure and a strong labor union – 50 years of status quo. As stupid now as it was then…and don’t you DATE try to change it.
