Scientists are now warning that the Earth’s magnetic field is weakening.
How do you suppose environmentalists will demand we fix THIS? Stop using refrigerator magnets?

I dunno, but whatever they come up with has to follow the essential tenets:
1. A change is happening.
2. It’s bad.
3. We caused it.
4. We can stop/reverse it.
5. Statism is the only solution.
We have a disproportionate amount of the worlds ferrous metal! I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough ferrous metal. We need to spread the ferrous metal around! We need ferrous metal equality and I have a pen and a phone and I checked, they’re both aluminum so don’t blame me.
It’s all those electromagnetic fields produced by electrical transmission lines. We need to stop generating electricity so as not to disrupt the Earth’s magnetic field. It doesn’t matter that the field has reversed itself several times in the past, THIS time it is all humankind’s fault, and specifically, the US fault. We have to shut down the US economy to avoid this imminent catastrophe.
Sure, we could do without the internet – Every time Harvey wants to post something on IMAO, he could mail it to me, I write a comment, then pass it to Jimmy, who writes a comment, then mails it to Damn Cat, who then mails it to zzyzx, and so on and so on.
Next time, he mails it to someone else first and we start the chain-mail all over again.
It’d be a bit slower than what we’ve got now, but the USPS would Love us.

@1 – I suspect most liberals just skip straight to step 5 on nearly every issue.
More taxation and regulation, they’ve always worked so well on past problems of this nature.
The problem started under Bush’s watch. Therefore, the cause is global warming and the solution is Al Gore and Carbon Credits.
On the other hand, maybe too many hard are disks spinning in the wrong direction! Call Bill Nye, the Science! Guy.

The full, immediate and irrevocable implementation of ObamaCare is, of course, the ONLY solution!
Geez, it’s a good thing we’re all scientific and stuff or we’d all still be running around joining doomsday cults.

All you Science® Deniers can scoff at this, but I am going to do my part, and start to reduce my Ferrous Footprint© right now!!!
I can haz Gubmint Grant now?
Stop using Electromagnets- like the ones in your average Power Plant.
