I’ve been kind of neglectful of this blog as of late. Actually, it kind of reminds me of what happened with the pets after SarahK and I got small kids. Well, I’ve had less time to write, and I’ve been trying to focus what little writing time I’ve had on some side project such as my books and my fiction writing. I wish I had more time to come up with some good blog posts, but it hasn’t been in the cards.
And now something big has happened. I’m finally giving up my day job as an engineer to be a full-time writer, as I’ve accepted a position at Emergent Order. You probably know them from the Kaynes/Hayek rap battle and the recent Kronies cartoons. They are an extremely talented group of people, and I am very honored they want me as part of their team. I am beyond excited to see what we can make together.
I’m also a bit scared. I’m now going to use the same part of my brain that came up with the Nuke the Moon essay and the Rumsfeld Strangler to financially support my family. Of course, anything worth doing is going to make you at least a little bit scared.
So what does this mean for the blog? I don’t know. In the least, I’m going to be very busy the next few weeks getting ready for the move to Austin, Texas. But I just wanted you to know that even if I’m not super active at the blog, I am out there writing (I also have a new book out next month and my first novel later this year). And I really want to thank all you blog readers for all your support through the years. It’s taken me places I wouldn’t even have imagined.

Just keep kicking butt Frank, we will be here waiting with baited breath for the next Frank J. adventure…..
“It’s taken me placed (sic) I wouldn’t even have imagined.”
– Farnk J. Fleming, Professional Writer –
Best wishes to you, Frank. You’ve worked hard to make yourself into a professional writer and all the while working a whole other job to take care of your family. You should be proud.
Don’t forget that the same part of your brain is here, Frank. You know, the Unfair, Unbalanced, Unmedicated part as depicted in at least one of these diagrams:
The Conservative Brain
(However, I’m still a little unsure as to exactly which part it is. Maybe you could point it out…)
DamnCat,
Professional writer. Not editor.
I can’t believe @2 DamnCat spelled “Frnak” wrong…

@6 – Eye Kan.
@6 Harvey
Cat. Not professional writer.
Congratulations and Godspeed.
Is this really a disguise for the launch of Frank’s 2016 campaign for President?
Congrats and welcome to Austin!
Good luck, Frnak. Remember: if this doesn’t work out, you can always be unemployed.
I’m trying to figure out why the Flemmings like to move when the roads are covered in ice.
Best of luck to you, Frank. Most of us have our dreams, purely fantasy, while you have a calling, now a realty. A calling, and courage.
Congratulations. Make us proud.
Moving to Texas? I hope your Ebola shots are up to date.
Don’t drink the water and don’t forget your
SpanishMexican to Gringo dictionary.Good luck and welcome to Austin. Well, I’d recommend that you not actually live in Austin – or Travis County. Learn from my mistakes…
Awesome, Frank! They are lucky to have you. We’re all looking forward to what you create with them, too!
Welcome to the Austin area from a daily reader and very infrequent poster….I second Andrew C…check out Williamson County. Travis county is uber liberal which means high taxes, bad roads and schools and enforcing views (ie no smoking in “liberal’ Travis county in bars, bags outlawed in grocery stores…fire em up in “conservative” Williamson county, and you can still actually carry your groceries home without having to bring your own “green” eColi bag.) Typical.
Congratulations and the best of luck on your new adventure. You have the talent for success.
@Damncat It’s amazing that you can type so well batting frantically at the keyboard with your paws. Keep up the good work and good kitty.
Thanks, FrankJ! What a ride. Thanks for taking us along.
Your blog is still pretty special and is an icon, and not only on my desktop.
The classics are Classics and are readily accessible in your archives. And by allowing us to easily make comments you have made writers of us all – if only in our comments. The best to you and yours!
Among Frank’s reasons for moving to Texas:
“Wherever there’s a federal judge overturning another voter I.D. law, I’ll be there.
“Wherever there are illegal aliens sneaking across the border, I’ll be there.
“And wherever there’s an Ebola outbreak threatening my beloved country, I’ll be there, too.”
He’s like a semi-effective, more mobile Aquaman.
No quote from Davy Crockett?
Cheers
#23: “Puncht him a hippie when he was only three…”
I think Frank is trying to tell us that he finally achieved the American dream – create something valuable through hard work and then sell out. congrats Frank!
You may yet end up with Jonah’s job!
Frank,
Allow me to be the first to welcome you to the environs of Fort Hood. As you may know, Austin is not actually in Texas, but is rather an extraterritorial extension of California. Nevertheless, it’s a much better place to spend the winter than my home state of Idaho.
Much as I look forward to having you in the neighborhood, I would prefer you stay in the great white north and keep writing IMAO. Let your conscience be your guide.
PC Mike
Keep in touch.
May God protect and guide you and your family in the months ahead.
I hope the move goes through without hitches or undue stress.
And when you’re all settled in, get busy and be brilliant!
Wishing you and your family the best of everything. Congratulations and thanks for the all the fun I’ve had reading your blog.
This could be a good move to set the stage for your candidacy – you need to get busy with FrnakJ in 2016.
fare ye well pilgrim
Congratulations, Frank! Well deserved. Good luck and stay in touch with us little people. I’d tell you to shoot for the moon, but we all know what that would entail!
Good luck
