Homeless

Hey, sorry not to be blogging. I’m living in a hotel looking for a rent house. Ends up we’re having some trouble as people label my dog an “aggressive breed.” So dog racism is alive and well.

But we should get things sorted out soon and I’ll try to get back to a new normal and blogging. And next Tuesday my new book comes out, so you’ll probably being hearing about that. And I have a cool new group I’m working with at Emergent Order, and hopefully I’ll have some stuff to show you soon.

BTW, was there an election yesterday? Is Wendy Davis my new governors?

  1. don’t know if Waypoint Homes rents houses in Austin but they’re very dog friendly (all their rentals allow dogs) and their prices are reasonable. Just don’t let them talk you into a 2 year lease. We rented a house from them in the neighborhood we wanted to buy in while researched what we wanted to buy and planned our closing to overlap the lease running out so we didn’t have to move in 1 weekend.

I know they’re big in Houston so if they have properties in Austin try them. They only rent single family homes that they own so no weird landlord problems.

  2. Fellow Texan here, btw. Grew up in the People’s Democratic Republic of Austin, but live in a more conservative area north of Dallas now. Don’t forget your grocery bags when you shop at your local organic food co-op, and remember to Keep Austin Weird!

  3. Yeah when renting you dont have much of a choice when it comes to dog breeds. If you were buying then there are a few things you can do to work with insurance carriers since you are the property owner. However if the owner of the home you rent doesnt want the liablity headache then you are stuck. Just please get renter’s insurance when you do finally rent. That way you will have coverage for your stuff and your own liablity and make sure you have Replacement Cost for contents. I work in the industry and trust me you do not want to go without that no matter how much it will save you.

  4. Frank what the heck! You’re moving to Austin? Harvey said you had been kidnapped by aliens. I didn’t know he meant illegal aliens. Well we’re neighbors now. The Cowboy Capitol is just a little more than and hour away. I’ll save you a front seat in church. I’ll keep the snakes put away until your second service.
