Well, the college football playoffs are set. And some people aren’t happy. It’s always that way. But, I have the solution.
There should be a 16-team playoff, involving all 10 conference champions, and the six highest ranked teams that didn’t win their conference. I have all the details at my little blog.
Now, what’s on your mind? Got something you’d like to talk about? It’s Sunday Night Open Thread and your turn to take charge of the conversation.
Who wants to start?
The NCAA/College Football isn’t interested in crowning the best team. They are in it for the MONEY. So they collude with the broadcasters to pair teams off in a way they believe will generate the highest number of viewers and create the highest amount of ad revenue in order to maximize profits. Higher profits for networks equals more $$$ for the universities. A really good team like Boise State can be shut out of the race if the money chasers think giving the spotlight to a lesser team will grant bigger viewer numbers. The NCAA is no different than the NFL/NBA. ALL they care about is $$$.
If lying and cheating will increase profits…..no problem.
Johnny Carson’s tribute to Abbot and Costello’s, ” Who’s on First” skit. Goes without saying this is also from back when late night TV was actually funny and entertaining.
Harvey Kuenn, the American League Rookie of the Year in 1953, who played for the Tigers, Indians, Giants, Cubs, and Phillies, was born December 4, 1930, in West Allis, Wisconsin.
Basil, I noticed you have the Bridge of Lions in your blog. You live in St. Augustine? Also, I do like your college playoffs.
No to St. Augustine. I live in southeast Georgia. I took that picture during a visit to the city. I really need to get back down there.
I lived in the Mayport/Jacksonville area from 83-04. I like Tennessee better.
Huh. I actually worked on the west side of Jacksonville for a few years in the 80s. The Union 76 truckstop at US-301 and I-10.
