President Trump has been making actual cuts in the number of federal employees, leading Tony Reardon, president of the National Treasury Employees Union, to proclaim, “Morale has never been lower.”

WTP is the biggest union of all, so let’s throw out all the government unions. Then we can do job assessment using real world performance metrics, with payroll cutting and departmental streamlining just like in the real world. A few hundred thousand laid off federal workers later, and they ought to be right miffed. Then we can get to work on some proper cost accounting, with associated cuts to hundreds or thousands of redundant or do-nothing departments. And just for fun, let’s lower taxes even further. The sound of lefty heads exploding will be rapid enough to make Orville Redenbacher smile.
